I switched Daisy over to Science Diet food... Wondering if you have any experience with this? I know science diet used to be one of the best foods available, but I am not sure if it is still that way.

I used to feed Emma Science Diet, but honestly, the more research that I did, the more I realized that it wasn't as good as I thought it was. After about 3 months, I switched her over to Innova, and that has been what she has eaten ever since. When I looked over the ingredients on Science Diet, I just wasn't impressed. At the time, two of the first three ingredients were corn and chicken by-product. I think they've had a formula change lately though and actual chicken is listed as the first ingredient now:

Science Diet Adult small bites: Chicken, Ground Whole Grain Corn, Ground Whole Grain Sorghum, Ground Whole Grain Wheat, Chicken By-Product Meal, Soybean Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, Animal Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), Brewers Rice, Chicken Liver Flavor, Soybean Oil, Flaxseed, Potassium Chloride, Iodized Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, vitamins (L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Vitamin D3 Supplement), minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), DL-Methionine, preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid, Beta-Carotene, Rosemary Extract.

Innova Adult small bites: Turkey, Chicken, Chicken Meal, Barley, Brown Rice,
Potatoes, Rice, Chicken Fat, Flaxseed, Herring, Natural Flavors, Apples, Carrots, Pumpkin, Eggs, Sunflower Oil, Sea Salt, Potassium Chloride, Herring Oil, Cottage Cheese, Alfalfa Sprouts, Direct-Fed Microbials, Lecithin, Rosemary Extract, Vitamins/Minerals

Well I went to check the Science Diet dog food out and there are several varities of that brand so here is the link to the site where you can look up the one you are presently feeding Daisy. I personally am not a fan of Science Diet.........they sometimes use animal by-products and other ingredients that are not, well, how should I say this.........just plain not good for the health of a fluff! But check it out for yourself! :)

The only problem I have with Science Diet is they use a preservative known to cause seizures in dogs.. I did feed it when we did allergy trials with Mitzy bu switched to Natural Balance and now am feeding them Taste of the Wild. Next time we geet food we are switching to Orijen

Have you seen this website (below)? it tells you the ingredients and pros/cons of each dog food. It's fairly interesting.

I don't think Science Diet is probably a good food anymore and now there are many better ones out there that aren't using low grade ingredients and/or grains. I know dogs usually like to eat it, but it's sort of like junk food in a way, so of course it tastes good to them.
