My vet say's to wait until Mia goes thru her first heat before spaying her does that seem right?

Maybe because of her tiny body frame he says that. However, I would not wait until her first heat cycle. It can change their personality a little bit. If she is 2 pounds of over, she is ready to be spayed at 6 months way before her first heat. If she is tiny and only going to be around 4-5 pounds she won't have a heat cycle till probably 9-12 months old. She will hit 3 pounds before 6 months. Please spay her before her first heat cycle. Get a second opinion. As a breeder, trust me, letting her going through a heat cycle isn't the proper thing to do in my opinion. She's big enough to get spayed at 6-7 months! Just my honest opinion..:smilebig: :goodluck:

She is 2lbs now breeder say's she probably won't be more than 4lbs. as an adult. When do you suggest I spay her? At 6 months?

5-6 months for neuter/spay is the norm.

I would think health would come before size. Have you consulted with another vet?

Right at 6 months is what I would strongly suggest. Feel free to e-mail me w/ questions.

She is plenty big enough to get spayed at her size now..at 6 mo old she'll be fine.

I agree, spay her at 6mths, she is big enough. Alot of vets go by health not size, so get blood work done before her spay.
Good luck and DON'T wait till her first heat.
