Can anyone recommend a groomer. I live in Tn. I have been trimming her myself but she just needs an occasional pro job. I love my 3 pound "Tutti" and take great pride in her care but I am no groomer. Can anyone suggest one. Maybe as far as Bowling Green Ky, or North Nashville. I have called several and of course they all say they can groom her. I want to find one I know can. She is my best friend, my true love.

Is that your sweet Tutti in your avatar??? What a dollbaby. I don't blame you for wanting to keep her in a long coat. She is such a beauty!!!
I have only had one experience with a groomer when I took my Yorkie in to be done and I was NOT A HAPPY camper. So I started cutting my fluffs myself and haven't had them to a Professional groomer since then.....let's see, that is about 4 1/2 years ago.
I really don't have any idea about a groomer in your area but I know what "has worked" for some is to view pictures of other people's maltese and when you finda picture that is the cut you want, print it out and take it to a groomer and tell them you want Tutti cut "EXACTLY" like the picture. It's really hard finding a good groomer as many have found out by experience.
Just wanted to say "WELCOME TO MALTESE TALK" to YOU and to TUTTI. I look forward to getting to know you better. Please post some more pictures of Tutti........we all love to see and admire pictures of the wonderful maltese breed. :) :)

Thanks for your invite and comment. My main Problem with doing it myself is mostly energy. I am disabled. What is best to use to trim the sprouts between the toes? And around the area under the tail :)? And I am not sure on the hair in her ears. How often and how? I have no problem with nails. She is so sweet and will allow for me to do anything I feel best. She knows the reward is a sure thing. She would do anything for some "Cherrios". She loves them. We bought the dog at 9 months of age, she weighed 2.2 pounds and was a solid mat. We are the third owners and the last! She has made a home in my heart like nothing before. The original owner/breeder wanted to keep her but couldnt get her potty trained. She would lock her in the bathroom. The second owner only had her 3 weeks and she loved the dog but had foster children and they were tossing her from bunkbeds! she feared she would get injured. She claimed she was fully housebroke. Well we found out she liked to pee in front of the toilet. (Smart dog! This is where she was trained-even tho they didnt realize it) It only took me 3 days to train her correctly to use the outside. Puppy pads came later. We had very few accidents for a few months, and never after 6 months. Cherrios were the key! This is the only time she gets them, as a reward. Hope they are ok to give since we knew nothing about diet before starting this "Treat". She doesnt get them now for potty, just grooming, nails. I will find more pics and post.

Hello and welcome first what a wonderful pup you have! I understand about having those area's done as I myself have a disability that also keeps me from doing those area's safely. So I use one myself for the same area's you listed.
Max was always groomed and he is very well behaved for them. I left my old groomer due to a couple bad haircut's. But I kept going as she was a very sweet girl and Max really liked her.
I looked around my town and then I interviewed local groomer's in my town. We live in a very small town and had three! I chatted with each on and told them what i would like and excepted from them if they were to be Max groomer's. I was pleased with all of them but one stood out and was very willing to work on my goal of getting Max in a long coat and she welcomed all my question's and concern's.
So far I am very pleased and Max was a happy camper when I picked him up so was a great experience. I think just talk to them, ask to see pictures of their work ect, You are paying for a service many have websites with featured dog's they did ect. But you and the groomer need to be on the same page. I wish you the best of luck!

I live about 30 miles south of BowlingGreen Ky. So you must be located not far from me. I tried every groomer in my area & none were able to satisfy me.lol So I bought my own clippers & supples & taught myself how to do it. I only take them to a groomer for nail clipping. It's not that I think the groomers are bad, it's just that they have no idea how to clipper a Maltese to still look like a Maltese.Plus I like to use my own shampoos & conditioners that work better for my 2 fluffs than what they use. Sorry I don't know a good groomer to recommend.

AND Hannah and Boo always look fantastic!!!! You do a fantastic job......I'm so scared of the clippers but if I ever cut them short and keep them that way, I will certainly be calling on you for some tips!!! I love how you keep the two of them; especially how nice their faces look. :)
