Does anyone else dog walk in reverse? Mine is afraid of anything that is sitting on the floor and after finally getting the courage up will either scamper by it guickly, loosing her traction, or will turn around and walk backwords till she gets passed it. It is too cute but I wonder where the fear is coming from. I hope to catch a video one day as it is so cute. She had two previous homes before we got her at 9 months. Or maybe because she is only 3.1 pounds and everything seems so big to her. It is cute but I hate that she is so afraid. Is it normal?

Mine move in reverse too but then I have also taught them to "back up." For your little one, it could be either of the two things you mentioned. Really hard to say exactly what it is but hopefully the fear is something she will be able to overcome as she gets a bit bigger and as she matures. Just be patient with her and encourage her to investigate things that she is not familir with.........get her comfortable around new things by exposing her to them but not forcing them on her. Patience and verbal/treat rewards can also help. Hope she outgrows the fear though. :) :)

I have one rescue that is terrified of storms and terrified of "feet." Just the other day, I was just using my toe to point to a treat that she had missed and she snapped at my foot........missed it but I was taken back a bit by it. Of course I told her "NO, BAD GIRL." And then I brought her back to the treat and showed her with my finger and she was fine and ate the treat. She was over two years old when we adopted her and so who knows what has happened in her life to cause such fear of feet. So now I am trying some conditioning methods to see if I can get her to overcome it. I lay her down and hold her head in my hand and talk softly to her while stroking her body with my foot. She isn't snaping her bolting so we'll see if it has any lasting affect on her.
