Corazone Update

[Mi Corazon]

Today we took Corazone back to the vet for a recheck and she has non-contagious hereditary mange. Normally this only appears in puppies but her immune system had been compromised by the tick infestation and allowed her to develop a sensitivity. This caused itching that led to the pyoderma. She is at the animal hospital tonight while they treat her for the mites that cause this and then she will have to have several more treatments and possibly will have to have treatments for the rest of her life...

Upside at least we know why it wasnt goin away

Thats wonderful news. The neighbors dog, a Jack russell, has something called red mange, which isnt contagious but hereditary, and its managed very well with, I think cream.. not sure if its cream or pills.. but anytime she starts to get it they put the cream/ or give her pills .. and it goes away!! Gosh I bet its a relief to know why shes been having such problems.. poor baby!! Your such a good mommy!!

This is also called Red Mange or demodectic mange. I read a lot about this since yesterday but this website http://www.dr-dan.com/red.htm has the information clearly laid out without too much technical information.

Corazone has the pustular form and I just called the vet and she is ready to come home...

As a side note, I wanted to share that I have found a job. I will be starting working in the Walmart Deli tomorrow. Yay me

AWWW I bet your excited to pick up your little girl. Hunnys, the jack russells, red mange looks like she had gotten into a fight or someone actually abused her, poor babys!!! I havent seen any cutlike mange on her in a long time. Im just thankful that you,hubby, kitty, and Corazone can focus on the wonderful things ahead!!

The immune system compromised makes sense.. little Hunny was wondering around on our road malnutritioned and scared. So thankful the neighbors took her in and had her vet checked.. now shes happy and healthy!!

Poor little bit is licking all her newly grown fur off and I dont want her to become compulsive about it so i put the cone on her... Its funny how she lays there so quietly while its on but when its off she is in constant motion trying to find a spot to scratch or lick... 22598
