Hello Fluff Gang!

I must have finally settled in as a new fluff Mom because I haven't been posting endless questions about my Annie. That's a good thing, but I am really embarrassed. I should be staying more up to date on everyone and what's happening here. Me bad :o .

So as usual I'm here with a question. Up here in Washington State we have had SO much rain, and Annie really hates going out in it. Besides getting very wet, her hair mats and gets nasty brown when she tries chewing on it (another question about that to follow :awink:)

I did a quick search of the forums and I only see a few entries about doggie boots. She could really use them. I tried making a set for her and the first thing I discovered is they were too difficult to get on quickly. When a dog has to go they have to go!:D I'm guessing I need to find some (or make them) with Velcro or elastic. The Velcro makes me nervous--her clothes with Velcro seem to tangle in her fur.

So it's really a short question. Does anyone use boots on their fluffs? Can anyone recommend some that are lightweight, easy to get on, and waterproof? We also spend time on the beach on rough rocks and barnacles, so I need something to protect her paws. I'd really, really, appreciate some input :umbrella: .

I think I'll do a second post about the yucky brown feet--don't want to lose you in my chatter :snore:.

:thankyou: .

Fluffie Hugs!

I'm on the hunt for a pair for my two also!! I saw some at Petco that were basically balloons that you put over the dogs feet but they seemed like the dog would puncture them with their nails  I am having a hard time finding any other though so am looking forward to some responses :D

Jes for the ones I tried making, I took some ribbing from an old sweatshirt for the tops, and cut up an old waterproof windbreaker (lightweight) and made a tube. Before I sewed the tube closed I cut a rectangle of the waterproof fabric and sewed it to the bottom of the ribbing. The waterproof area covered her foot (top and bottom) and the ribbing looked like it would hold it up.

Problem was, I think I made my sample too small. It was a pain to get on, and I know if she had to go out in a hurry we would never get them on in time! If I made it bigger to be easy to slip on I doubt it would stay up. I just made one, and she walked around with it on and didn't seem to mind at all.

I think the secret is to find something really lightweight. The ones I've seen in the stores are all so bulky and heavy I know Annie wouldn't like them. I may end up trying again and trying to figure out how to add velco or a tie at the top. I'll let you know if it works!

In the meantime if anyone else has any ideas I would sure appreciate them!:)

That sounds great!! Hope you can post some pictures of the ones that you already made!:D

Well I did find a site that had velcro but I don't think you will find a boot for a fluff that goes on quickly.........if it did, it would probably come off just as quickly. It may mean that rather than wait for them to tell you they need to go out, take them out on a regular bases and keep their bladders empty. That way they would not only get use to the boots but you would have ample time to put the boots on without having to rush.

Wow, I had no idea this forum existed! I'm a member of Yorkietalk, as I have my little Cooper who is half maltese & half yorkie. It wasn't until today that I checked my website stats that I knew this was here.

Anyway, I'm the owner of http://www.alldogboots.com and would love to help anyone find boots for their little ones. It is true that whatever goes on easily will more than likely come off easily as well!

And, JesBred, isn't Jake worth it?:wink5: I'm happy to give anyone a 10% discount.
