The Stuff (http://www.petedge.com/product/The-Stuff-Conditioner-and-Detangler-4-oz/43551.uts)

I just found out yesterday that this is what Em's groomer uses on her. I love the way her coat feels when she's been groomed so I think I'm going to have to get some of it for home. Has anyone else tried it out?

I've used it but really only bring it out when i have tough mats to get out. I think it has silicon in it, which can break coat.

I don't think it will 'ruin' a coat, I just try to stay away from products with silicon on my show coats. I just don't need to add anything else that may cause damage! But if they are super matted, then I'll get it out, as long as I know I'm bathing right after. But on my short coats, it's not that big of a deal.

There is a product by Vellus called "Tangle Out' and it says right on the direction to bathe directly after.
Vellus Tangle out is a PRE-WASH detangling solution. This state of the art formula will slide tangles and mats out of the dog's coat. Use Tangle Out to detangle your dog and then shampoo with Clarifying Shampoo, followed by Vellus Original Shampoo. Condition as usual. This is not a maintenance brushing solution. This product is designed to detangle, save time, energy and hair. Silicone based. Oil and lanolin free.

So... I guess I don't know for sure if it's damaging, I just don't want to take the risk. With so many detanglers on the market (human and animal) there is a huge variety to chose from!

Thanks for the feedback! There's no way that I'll grow Em's coat long so I'm not too worried about that. Apparently, this has been used on her for well over a year now and I've not noticed anything but silky soft feeling hair so I might give it a try at home sometime. If so, I'll let you know how it goes!

I've never heard of it either... but I love the name! Kind of gets to the point - it's "The Stuff"! LOL Anyway, thanks for the review.

I am curious because JiJi's matts are driving me crazy.
