I am just wondering if my new little pup will ever want to get near any water (pool, ocean...).

Well Lucas likes the ocean but never swam!! And I haven't put him on a pool! I think those little baby pool are just adorable! I'd like to get one for Lucas:tongue:

I think he'd probably like pools or lakes. You can even get a life vest for him. My two have their own little pool. When it was really hot they enjoyed just sitting in it. I was worried about getting water in their ears. A small amount in the ear can cause an infection....I was probably too cautious though:blush:

I've taken Emma to the beach twice in the past year and she HATES the ocean! She's not crazy about bath time in the tub either. I've determined that she's just not a water dog...

I've never taken mine to a public swimming area (beach or lake) so don't know if they would like it or not but I do have a pool and they steer clear of it and have never shown any sign of wanting to go in or even curious! I know there are some maltese that take to water like a duck. I guess you will have to just experiment and see. :)

Nemo hates the water, I don't know why. I believe most Maltese do like the water , but Nemo is the exception .:D

in our old apt, we only had a shower stall, so we would bathe her in the kitchen sink, and sometimes, she would escape and run across the counter all soapy before we could grab her.

She also knew how to turn off the water (She'd step on it) in an attempt to get away.

though, when she tried that with the tub, she ended up turning on the shower and was NOT happy.

Same here!! Mitzy's been to the ocean, a lake and in a pool and never liked any of them. And she does NOT like bathtime. I have the cutest little life vest for her so I wish she did like the water :(

I thought Em would like splashing around in the ocean and was so excited to take her last year...she about pulled my arm out of joint trying to get away from it! She does like playing in the sand, but only DRY sand!

Doesn't sound like any of our babies likes the water...

my corazone does not like the water but she has had to have so many baths its no wonder.

My parents have a shi-tzu named Freddie and he loves to bath so much that he will jump in the tub and sit there and growl if you try to take him out.

This summer I'm going to find out if any of my furkids like water. I know bath time is no fun and even my skinkids hate it but they do love swimming so there still might be hope. I have seen them splash in puddles.

Snow hates the water!! When I wash his paws in the sink after a long walk, he would step on the faucet so his paws don't get on the water.. he likes to pull his paws away from the water and SPLASH IT on his mommy instead!! Lol

That big dog, Willows best friend named Bleu, is probably the key. Bleu loves the water so Willow didn't want to be left behind.

My Maddie loves the lake. I've taken her to the swimming pool but she won't get near. She likes to play on the shore of the lake but won't go farther. I think overall she does like the water but only if it's shallow enough for her to walk on.
