I got this cool coupler from Chattiesmom that I'd love to use to take two at a time for walks and to the park etc. BUT... well...WE just can't figure this out!!. How can I train them to walk with this?
Chloe just goes and walks like it's nothing, she wants to go! but for some reason it scares Tink if it tugs on her, she doesn't want Chloe there and taking her for a walk I guess! She will immediately walk backwards, go behind my legs and sit down, Chloe keeps tugging wanting to go so THEN Tink rolls over on her back and Chloe drags her!  :D I had to rescue the poor baby! Not to mention them going in opposite directions, wrapping around my legs, I almost step on someone... Oh lord it was the saddest and funniest thing I had witnessed the 3 of us ever trying to do! We were a serious mess.
Do any of you use couplers and take more than one? HELP!

Oh Jodi, not to make plight of your situation, but just imagining that in my head, well...LOL...it's funny:sidesplit:! Poor girls...Poor Jodi :D
I'm so sorry Jodi, I have no experience whatsoever in that. I can't put the girls in a coupler. Kira will be dragging LB. I hope that you find a solution to this situation. I think a coupler is perfect for 2 dogs of the same size.
I walk them with different leashes at the same time or take them out one at a time.
Good Luck!

Are you quite sure that Kira would be dragging LB????? I'm not so sure! ROFL:p :p I use two leashes as well but keep them close to me so they are almost walking with a coupler. I was thinking about getting that if I got the leashes from chattiesmom. Maybe I had better rethink it!

Jodi, do they walk fine on separate leashes??? Try getting them use to walking close when they are on separate leashes by limiting their distance and every walk using a little more control over how far apart they are and then eventually when they have mastered the walking close together, give the couple another try. Sounds like a lot of work? Yep, probably will take some time. I was thinking of getting this as well if I ordered the harnesses. Maybe it just won't work out with your two, maybe both have independent mindsets!!!! You should have taken a video, sent it to Ameica's Funniest Videos!!! :)

It is a line that attaches to each dog's harness(and it matches each dog's harness color) and then attaches to ONE leash (which she also makes or if you have one already it will work too. I'll try to find a picture of it on YT! It's a really neat idea.

I tried using a coupler a long time ago when I had cockers and it didn't work for us the male was fine but the female wasn't and ended up getting dragged so I gave up. Hope you have better luck then I did.

I have a 3 way coupler and walk 3 dogs at once.
First I started off with separate leashes. I decreased the distance between the dogs so they kept walking closer and closer. After awhile, I had would walk with the leashes entwined so they could get to use to the idea. Then I had them walk the same pace. After that I put them on the coupler. They learn to walk the same pace because if they don't one is pulling while the other is being pulled. So they all learned to be a team and work together and they do great walking together. It takes alot of work but don't worry they should get the hang of it.

I use a coupler to tether the two into the car seat....and to the wagon when they're in parades. It's just too close for them to walk down the street together - who ever stops to pee gets pulled over!!!

You know, I was wondering about that ........... when the kids go for a walk, they have to stop every few feet to let the next dogs coming around the block know they've been there. I just don't know when I would use the coupler ........... but if I get coupler, I get free shipping.......so it's like get the coupler and have free shipping or don't get the coupler and pay for the shipping and it's the same price either way! duh!
