I feel as though I have been violated by Petsmart Bainfield Vets. I just got in the mail, postcards concerning licensing. Not one, but two cards addressed to my husbands name.. I have Tebow and Brie, both of which have been taken there. I used my husband's credit card to pay.

This information should not have been sold, and if they are so desperate to make money on mailing list then identifying information should not have been included.

I feel this was a breech of confidentially and no animal of mine will ever go back there. I'm just so upset that a vet would do such a thing. We pay them enough money that they do not need to sell information.

I know that even hospitals allow drug sales people access to records, but there is to be no identifyable info used.

If it were a federal crime I could see giving out info, but to give it out to a agency, a licensing agency, is not acceptable unless it is required by law.

When I buy a fishing rod no one sells my name and address to a licensing agency. If I graduate from say hair dressing school, no one sells my name to whoever licenses hairdressers.

Has this happened to anyone else? I just feel so violated.

Sometimes vet offices send the county the rabies information. I've asked my vet to NOT supply the information. That may be where the breach has come from?

Sorry this happened to you! I haven't heard great things about Banfield although I have no personal experience with them.

Me neither, when i was in the hunt for Sofia's vet there were really bad reviews about the this hospital in my area. So i never took her. As for the info being sent to them, i had no idea they could do that. Good to know.

In our case, my pup was only 10 weeks old, and my Tebow would have been listed under the breeder as we got him at 5 months old.

Thank you for telling me about the rabies info being shared, I'll be sure to mention my feelings of "no info" to whoever I select as my new vet.

Oh in that case, that is absolutely WRONG. I was thinking they had their rabies vaccination done and the vet forwarded the paperwork to the county.

Let us know when you get to the bottom of it!!!! I'd like to hear their excuse for sharing that type of info.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with them. I have a friend who lost a pet with them. They don't have a good reputation and are know for ripping people off.
Good luck on vet searching.

I don't use Banfield Vets. I haven't heard great things about them either. Once I was at Petsmart and I remembered they sold heartworm meds. So I ask and the lady at the Banfield counter asked if I could pay with cash? I said sure...thinking maybe the register was closed. Well, she said somebody took out $40 and she was closing so she needed things to add up. She said she'd sell me the 6 month box for $20. I figure...cool. It was unopened and I get a deal... I've never bought another thing from them after that. :o

Wow, don't know how I missed this thread but sounds like Bainfield has some issues in several areas.........we had one just open up here with a new Petsmart Store but after reading some of "your" experiences, I won't be frequenting it anytime soon! Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm just so sorry that "you" had to be the ones to experience it. :(

As many of you know my girl is a puppy mill girl. I was allow to return her and get all my money back if I take her to a vet and they find something wrong with her. But not if I took her to Bainfield, so even a puppymill breeder didn't like them.

Wow, I was going to use them because of their open door policy of walk in vacinations and visits. This was great, just go there from 1 o'clock to 4 or 5 on Thursdays. Then they changed it and made it appointment only. So no more clinic.

Well I certainly learned my lesson, glad it was earlier rather than later.

Another thing, while I was there someone brought this little dog over from pet smart grooming. Dog was shaking and shaking, it had been cut so the groomer brought him over to doc to see if the owner takes it to bainfield. Fortunately, they found the records and the doc treated his cuts. Lesson learned, check your dog over if you use Pet Smart as groomers.
