got me to make the call and have Ginger's appointment set up for her procedure too. :o Someone said it will help with the potty training and by golly, we could really use some help with that!
She's set for the 26th and I am nervous already! AAAAH. I am mostly concerned with the afterward time. She has to wear the lampshade for 7-10 days?!! I am thinking she's going to eat it. She finds a way out of everything (and then chews up whatever is in sight).
In other news, we are taking her to Petco for the first puppy kindergarten class this Sunday. They also do vaccines and have a free potty training class as well so I think I am going to do it all at once on Sunday.

YAY!! I know its scary but its so routine you should have nothing to worry about. ;) Make sure you do pre-op blood work to be sure she won't have complications with the anesthesia!!
Afterwards isn't to bad until they become active and you have to keep them still. The first night and possibly the next day she'll be really groggy and may not eat but that's normal. I wore a cone on Mitzy only when she would pick at her stiches or when I wasn't home to watch her (I took time off work with both my dogs to watch them). The rest of the time she worse a baby onesie that kept her stiches covered.
Also is you have ANY concerns after the spay, call or go to your vet IMMEDIATLY. Things can happen so quick and you don't want to wait :)

The onsies are a great idea, those collars make them miserable (the soft ones aren't nearly as bad) Belle did chew her top layer of stitches out no matter how much I watched her but I steri-striped her and used the onsie and she did fine. Keeping her quiet was a different matter. The Maltese in her was fine but the Yorkie half about drove me nuts! Good luck

I'm so glad you are having Ginger spayed..........not sure if it will help with the potty training but there are soooo many other benefits. I am sure she will be just fine............it's "US" that don't do so well.
I always ask the vet for pain pills just in case .......... and always ask if I can put neosporin w/ pain killer on the stitches. They've always said yes to both. I never wore a collar on any of my fluffs when I had them spayed but since I don't work, I was able to spend 24/7 watching them until they were fine.
Wishing Ginger a speedy recovery!!!!!

I understand how do you feel about leaving your baby at the vet!!!
I'm sure she is going to be fine!!! She is going to look not happy the first and maybe the second day!! but after that she is going to be herself and wanting to jump and play everywhere!!!:D:D
Wishing to Ginger a sooner recovery!!:hearter:
