Hi all.
well I have been treating an ear infection on going for two years now with my regular vet. It would get better then return. We keep the hair pulled out of the ears, water out and cleaned regular. I actually got her from a bad place and she had this at the time and I have been trying to cure her ever since. We have went through about $800. Treating them in the past two years with no cure in site. Yesterday I went to my third vet, which is not easy to find in a small town, but now my baby is on more medications and scheduled to have surgery on Monday! She has some inflamtion that is very tender inside and to get it this they feel this will actually take care of the deep problem that keeps reoccurring. I am so looking forward to her finally not having an ear infection again. I have felt for her, I have pleaded with the other vets, to do something besides just throw anitbiotics at it and take my money. Yall just send her your prayers on Monday that she will finally get ok.
thanks,
Cathy

Hi Cathy,
I am sorry to hear that your baby has suffered with this for so long. Are you using the big clinic in Pensacola? Momma went there with Noel a few times and said it was very nice and the vets was very professional. I can't imagine finding 3 vets in Brewton, haha. We will be praying for you little one. Hope she feel better soon.

Send her a puppy kissy kissy from me mommy. ~Sassy

Aw poor little pooch. I hope your baby feels better. She sounds like a strong girl for putting up ear problems for so long. :(

Hi all
We actually had to go two towns over to get the new vet.
She is a recient graduate from Auburn U. Really nice and up todate. My baby is feeling better already. She would get better before sometimes for along while and then that nasty stuff would come back. I am just trusting for a homerun this time.

Your poor baby, I hope every works out this time around.
Chelsey only had one ear infection when we got her. They gave her some medicine she had to take it for longer then the norm recommened.
After the medicine ran out we too her back to check and make sure it was cleared up , but it wasn't... it looked good to me, but the vet recommened she continue it for an other two weeks to make sure.
I only pull her hair from her ears like every two to three months. With one of those hemostate thing. With chester our yorkie I'm able to do it with my fingers and only do this to him like every three months. With chelsey her ear chanel is a lot further down.. the hemostat helps remove the hair. The vet also suggested to use cotton balls in her ears to prevent the water from entering but it never stays in. ,so I gave up on that. I just covery her ears with my hands when giving her a bath. I also asked my vet about the ear cleaner and she suggested not to use it. So far so good. Someone did mention using ear plugs and I think this my help you if your not already using them. My vet did mention to use that once a puppy gets an ear infection they could be prone to getting more of them. Chelsey has not gotten an other one so far knock on wood. I hope they find the root cause this time for your puppy. Please keep us updated.

I did learn something new from the new vet I had not known before about Qtips. I don't just clean in them with a Qtip anyway, but she said if you do put a Qtip inside the dogs ear it is like sand paper to them their ear wall is so tender, especially if they do have any infections. It will scratch the wall and the infections will get there too! I just learn something new all the time. She said to apply the ear cleaner and use a cotton ball to remove the gunk or excess from the ear.

Hi All,
We are much better. The Vet. was not able to scope all the way into one ear as she wanted to due to a narrowing in the ear, but she thinks that she will be fine. I did look at it on the screen it was amazing to see just as she did. My baby has not missed a beat she is eating fine and playing today.
I was so stressed waiting, and so glad it is over.
thanks for the prayers.

Hope she is on the mend. Ear infections can be very dangerous in malts. I actually new a girl whom lost a dog due to an ear infection. Maltese can be prone to them due to the hair in the ears and their dopped ears. Do any of you put eardrops in your malts ears after each bath? I put those drops you can by over the counter to prevent swimmers ears after bathing Bentley..it's actually his favorite part of grooming. He loves getting those drops in his ears. Theres also a recipe where you can make homemade drops.
