Carol yes what do you get ? Would like to know too. At the psychic forum I am with, they are hit with a huge amount of scam too, mostly in Russian.

I knew all those so called new members were SPAM :D They were all posting in the Maltese News section. I realize you can't do anything till they post something inappropriate, but you can really get an idea by their avatar and what they post that they are spammers. :D Most of the time what they post has nothing to do with a Maltese forum

Actually there are places you can go online to check "strange" forum usernames against a known database of forum spammers. As well as checking known IP addresses of those spammers. It's just another branch of the "pop up" mess that went on back in the late 90's except that these bot codes were written to spam a forum. It's a pain for the moderators to be sure. And knowing what signs to look for as a mod can be a plus.

I used to back-trace spam email coming into my account then go to the spammer's upstream provider and complain. At one point I had a little over 300 spammers booted from the internet by their upstream providers--before I got bored of playing that game and started creating my own filters (I use Outlook for email on all of my email accounts).

Sometimes being bored out on the road takes interesting turns...

I just saw another one yesterday, but like I said I can't say anything till it's to late. Anyway It is not my place that is what the moderators job is for :D I just wanted to make sure I was right, I know from many years being on forums what are spammers and what are not :tongue:
