Just wondering if dogs can catch colds? Belle has been doing the reverse sneezing a lot today and her eyes are kind of watery looking. She seems to feel fine and ate her breakfast, maybe it's just me worrying about my baby. She has like a zit in her eyebrow like she had once before but I don't think that is causing it. She also has been licking at her back foot a lot and I looked and she's got a sore spot between her pads. I have a feeling some little stinker got her there when they were playing. Just didn't know about the cold thing. We haven't had colds but she was at the vet for nail trim and who knows whats there:(

GREAT QUESTION!!!!!!! Taught this "old dog" something new. :lol2::lol2::lol2:
Did a little research and found this website that has some information on colds in dogs.
Thanks for the question and here is the link. Hope little Belle doesn't have a cold though and will be feeling better! :)

Thanks Carol, great site. I marked it for future reference. Sounds like Belle could have a cold. I have been using a really warm wash cloth on her face and eyes to make them feel better. She seems to feel fine, in fact, right now she is under my office chair terrorizing Sammy...or it may be the other way around. I know my whole chair is moving! It said colds could be caused by stress, I would say Belle was under alot of stress lately so that could be it.

Now I listen to Belle and she is making that snorting sound like in her throat. I notice that when she plays with Sammy he gets under her head at her throat and I worry about the collapseing trach. thing. She just keeps going back for more though. I do try and watch them when they are playing and tap Sammy's behind if he gets to biting to hard. Belle usually ends it when he gets to rough though, she rolls him right over and he know she means business.

I was thinking allergies too. Wouldn't it be nice if they could talk to us and tell us what's wrong?? I hope Belle feels better soon!!

I have seasonal allergies, and whenever I notice mine starting to cause a problem, she usually starts showing symptoms, too. She'll get runny eyes and we'll have to deal with a little tear staining. That's the only part of spring that I'm not looking forward to...

You know Belle could actually be allergic to Sammy!! Dogs can be allergic to other dogs  weird I know. The only part though that sounds like allergies to me though is the runny eyes!! If its only one foot thats bothering her she probably just irritated it somehow. Poor girl has alot going on doesn't she?? :( I hope she feels better soon!!
Also with the snorting, Mitzy "snorts" when she gets really excited so maybe playing with Sammy gets her excited. You can always try plugging her nose to stop it, always works with Mitzy ;)
Fell better soon sweet Belle!! :hearter:

Gee thanks Jess, read your post to my dh and he keeps saying see, we should only have 1 dog:( Ya well he's lucky he gets to stay here, I could trade him in for a Yorkie:lol2: Sounds like a fair trade to me...anyone need a cop/fireman/EMT with lots of opinions who doesn't know what a clothes hanger is for??? He can also fix anything, just not around our house. Yep, Yorkie sounding better all the time:D

All three of my guys need to have the cold mist dehumidifier running full time in winter, help's them so much with all you explained. I know how cruddy I feel in this weather not being out all the time in fresh air. HTH :)
Think of it sort of like when we had little kids that mist was a life saver on the little ones and colds.

:lol2: Your too funny :lol2:
My girl also snorts when she's running around being silly. I think thats her way of catching a good needed breath.
Cinthya I might be wrong but that's when they start sounding like there out of breath gasping for air. Kind of scary at first but I did notice she only does it when she's energized.
