I applaud this site for the way in which things are done. You don't have a set amount for members to donate.....which opens the door for IMO more donations.
The people that can give more do and might even donate more..and the people who aren't able to give much don't feel pressured.
Very smart...it's the way it should be!

To become a donating member you have to pay $25.00, unless Admin has changed the rules.

Well, actually, you can become a "junor donating member" if you can't pay the $25.00............so Admin does make it very easy for you to become a donating member. And I am sure you can always add to that amount over time to become a full donating member. You just have to be sure to follow the directions in the donating section. And once a donating member, always a donating member. :) :)

when I started the thread on "tax season" there was a link or some info there and it didn't state a minimum so I apologize. I donated more then the required amount while amanda donated less because shes 13 and used her own money. If there are rules I ust have missed them :(

Below is the information regarding donations made to Maltese Talk! Hope this helps:

Donations are now being accepted! All donations will go towards the cost of hosting, running, and maintaining MalteseTalk.com and keeping the place as friendly as possible, for users new and old!

We can currently accept donations (any amount is appreciated!) via credit card or Paypal funds by sending money to donations@maltesetalk.com (or we can take cashier's checks or money orders, for the address, just privately message us). Please let us know your MalteseTalk username as well when you send a donation. If you do not yet have a Paypal account, you can sign up for one at http://www.PayPal.com

What do you get for your donation?
Why, we're glad you asked, you get a shiny new bigger Donating User Title, up to 200 messages in your Private Message box, 5MB of space in the Photo Gallery, and something a little secret (sorry, we promised we can't tell!).

Also, if you donate $25 or more, you can have an avatar that is up to 125 by 125 pixels big and up to 50KB in size.

Donations are of course, optional. If you can't afford it, that's no problem, we still value your membership and your support. We just wanted to give all those that have already donated, and that do donate a little something special! MalteseTalk will always be free for users!

Even if you don't donate, you can help out MalteseTalk by participating in our community and replying to posts when you see something that interests you.

So thank you to all that have donated, or those that are going to donate! We hope that this little Maltese community can continue to grow with your support!

Sincerely,

Your MalteseTalk.com Staff

Hope it's okay for me to ask about this here, wasn't sure where else to do it. I want to make my donation now that I have been here for a while and are sure that I am going to stay active. I do not have Pay Pal, but it says you accept credit cards, how is this done? If you prefer Pay Pal I can ask my hubby for help, no worries :)

Sophie I think what I did was send a PM to Admin with the amount and my card number. I have paypal now and use that for alot of things I buy. It's always safe and guarenteed what ever you buy or pay. Hope that helps, it's been a while since I sent mine but I'm sure that's what I did.

Paypal can be very safe especially if you use a credit card and not your bank account with them. All thought it's cheaper to use a back account with pay pal because they don't charge a fee. I use American Express with paypal because PayPal has to follow AE rules and regulation too.

If you don't want anybody to know your personal info I think you can mail in a money order and just give the administrator your name here.

Well, they way I helped another member become a donating member that didn't have paypal either was for them to send "me" their personal check and I will use my paypal account to to pay for your donation to ADMIN forwarding your user name...it usually takes a few days longer since the check has to come through the mail to me but you can also send a money order directly to ADMIN by contacting them for the address to send it to. Either way works for me. Just wanted to throw the option out there!

Would love to have you be part of the donating members here on MT! We have such a great close knit family here and Carol can definitely assist you on the matter. Donations made via paypal is more discreet and you still receive member donating status no matter how big or small the contribution (however, a minimum $25 for joining GEs). Don't forget, you get a little something extra that most of us aren't allow to say! :D

I love it here and thinking about making another donation soon :)

I won't be able to donate this time but hopefully in a few more months there will be another reminder.

Yay! I think I managed to create my own Paypal and send money all by myself. Couldn't wait for hubby for help, he is too busy these days. I wrote my MT name in the message field. What now? Am I all done?

I just want to comment that recurring donations are not required once you have made the initial payment and received donating status. A one time donation will suffice, extra contributions will, of course, be from the kindness of your own heart to help support MT  The amount you put in will affect your eligibility for GEs. And I believe as long as you're of donating status, you will also qualify for annual card exchanges too, given that you're a participating member with considerable numbers of posts.

Hope that helps some :)

OMGosh join the club Sophie! I think you're all set and ready to go. As far as taking matters into your own hands, you remind me of someone we all know and *possibly* love here on MT :lol2:

I am now officially a "Donating Member" today - I figured out my PayPal account and sent my donation to MalteseTalk ... that is, if I did it correctly! (lol!)

I'll just have to wait and see.... :)
