View Full Version : Faster growing of coat
Do you have any advice?Maza's hair grows so slow. Some vitamins?Or something similar? She have 7 months and hair is only4 inches long.
If your puppy is 7 mos. w/ 4 inches of hair isn't that normal? Babe has about 5 1/2 inches of hair (very thick) and he's almost a yr. old. I'm not an authority but it sounds reasonable.

Marina,
Her hair growth sounds normal! It takes up to a year to be fully grown. I wouldn't give her anything for hair growth .

No,her hair is long about 3.3 inches.I didn't measure it good

You need to consider genetics too! Every maltese has different thickness, length, texture........perhaps Maza's parents took a while to grow out. But she is doing really well. I've read it takes a good 18 months sometimes to get a full to the floor coat! Kallie was in a puppy cut when we adopted her and it took a good two years before it actually touched the floor! Her previous owners did not care well for her hair........so I think it had an affect on the growth. But the main thing is not the length but the health of the hair. Brush it daily, keep it mat free and keep it clean.......she'll be in a full healthy coat in no time!:) JMO

You could always give her Missing Link or Seameal...It's full of vitamins/minerals and omega-3,6 fatty acids which are supposed to help the coat as well :)

hmm..my pup is 17 wks old and his hair is 3.5 to four inches in some places. He is growing fast!
But when I saw his brother his hair was only like 2.5 inches to 3 inches...???
Strange but I kind of want his hair to grow slower so he can have that "puppy" look for a while. Plus its less to brush, less mats to worry about ...but oh well. Any vitamins to keep the hair from growing ...hahaha!

Her hair growth sounds normal to me. If you want to give her something to help her coat, give her Missing Link and some brewers yeast tablets. You can also bath her in a shampoo or conditioner that has omega fatty acids in it. How often do you bath her?? The cleaner the coat is, the healthier it is and faster it may grow.
I think your baby girl looks great :D
I dont think u need anything for her but lots of hugs and kisses :)
thank you
I can't buy Missing Link or something similar in Serbia :(
I bath her once a week,It is sure enough

I was thinking about this exact same thing today! Their hair does seem to grow slow. I had a pekingese and I couldn't keep up with his hair. Dolce is 9 months and the hair on his back is a little over 5 inches and the hair on his face is 3 1/2 inches long. I cannot wait until it's floorlength:tounge: :hearter:

Missing link is a supplement that is in powder form...You add it to their food each day. I don't give Missing Link because I give regular fish oil and vitamin e.
Here's a link with the info on missing link...http://www.designinghealth.com/products/canine_products_main.html
