Ok..........I loved the minksheen product for Toby the Yorkie. Can't say I am as pleased with the product for Kallie, the Maltese!!! Her hair is soft but not any softer than when I used other "good" products. Her hair does not smell the same as Toby's ............ no clue why. But smells like a cleaning product verses a nice smell (kind of hard to explain). I used no conditioner and her hair stayed mat free when brushing and blow drying.
BUT..............SHE IS ONE BIG POOF!!!!
Maybe if she had short hair it would do fine but on the long hair, it just made her look poofy. I like the slim, flat, silky look and she doesn't have that this time after her bath...........now I have a whole week of POOFY hair! She is not shiney like Toby either and usually she is. Her topkots were a bear to get in as the hair was so poofy and fly away!
So no I will not use minksheen on Kallie again. And so there you have it, JMO!!!

Thanks for the review! Poor Kallie has to be a little poofball until next week! But I'm sure she still looks adorable :)

Thank you so much for letting us know Carol! I'm glad that sample was free, because I won't be using it on Perri. I'd send it to you, but I think that gallon will last Toby for years LOL! I am glad it at least worked for him though.
If anyone here with a Yorkie wants me to send that sample to them, I'd be happy to, just let me know.

What kind of coat does she have? Do both her and Toby have that silky hair? I thought about getting it, but now I don't think I'll be ordering it for Miko and Emma simply because of the smell reviews...I don't like anything with a strong smell. Scents react differently with each individual dog just like people, so with my luck, it would work on one furbaby and not the other!

Yep, coat and breed do seem to matter with the minksheen. Toby(thin but silky hair) looks great, smells really fresh and clean, shiney..........it really worked on him!! But for Kallie(thick and cottony), I just didn't get the same results........but I do have products that I like for her that work well with her coat...........with no POOF!

Okay I gave my sample to my sister for her to use on her Bichon yesterday. You want lots of poof with Bichons, so I thought it would work well on him. It did, he's very soft and extra poofy! Also, I smelled him after his bath and he smells very nice, nothing like the horrid bugspray smell in the bottle. So I guess the same smell as Carol described on her Toby. Just wanted to share for those who might have Bichons or even Poodles.

Carol said she didn't use conditioner afterwards, so maybe if you use conditioner the outcome maybe different.
It is a free sample and I would probably just give that a go ( it isn't costing you anything), don't forget, some Malts have different hair texture also.

This is so true.........I am going to try the minksheen on Kallie one more time but use some conditioner on her as well. I'll be back to give my report once the bath and dry is complete!!!:hearter:

I have found that the colors on Yorkies really come out with this shampoo. They look wonderful afterwards!
I gave Myla (malt.) a bath yesterday with it. She is still pup, but it did wonders for her. She is incredibly soft and silkly feeling and looks so white! I now use Plush Puppy Blowdry Cream with the Minksheen and that works really, really well.
Of course I don't have Carol's type of dog with hair that long and cottony.. :D .but a good conditioner or something like the PP might help quite a bit.
I also LOVE the smell of the Minksheen. :)

Do you think it would make Chippy's hair straighter? He's got this curly-ish fur... it's really weird. His hair goes straight when we first dry him, but 5 minutes later after he's rolled around his fur gets right to being curly again. His hair is starting to grow out into his adult fur and he's startin' to look scruffy! Does anyone have any suggestions? Do you think Minksheen would work on my yorkie baby?

Teddy is half maltese and he his hair is kind of cottony and gets wavy after he starts playing around too - I like the minksheen on him it makes him very soft and smooth. I just ordered espree shampoo, conditioner, and tear stain remover - I've heard good things about this line so I'd figure I'd give it a try

It would be worth trying......ask for a free sample from the minksheen site!!! I used it on Kallie in combination with Bless the Beast conditioning shampoo and also did a leave in conditoner as well and the minksheen was fine and no poof this time......but with all the combination, it was bound to be okay!!! But I would never use the minksheen alone on Kallie, but it works great on Toby!!!:D
