Hello guys,
So its been three weeks today since I got Skwooshee. He is four months and one week old. He weighs exactly 3 lbs. He is roughly 6 or 7 inches tall and 7 or 8 inches long. Is that normal?
Since day one it has been very very easy for me. I was expecting all hell to break loose with potty training and losing sleep but its been easy breezy!
The first night and on he slept with me. He sleeps through the whole night and can hold his bladder very well. The first night I had set my alarm to take him to the potty but it was obvious it wasnt neccessary. I think I got lucky.
I have absolutely no behavior issues with biting or barking. He trains very easily and is very attentive. I can only assume the reason he seems easy to train is because I am very used to raising, training, and dealing with the very stubborn personalities of Pit Bulls. Compared to my two Skwooshee is a dream.
(even my manly man of a man fiance prefers Skwooshee over our pits...what a shocker! Geez Pits are complicated!)
He is already potty trained with minimal accidents. Its WONDERFUL watching him dart into the bathroom to go potty. He runs back out like..."heyhey go look go look..praaiiise meee."
He is playful but also very calm. He loves to just hang around in my arms while Im walking around or watchin tv. He always has a safety zone though. If we are in a new environment. WHere I place him he usually has a ten feet radius around him or sometimes the whole room as his safety zone. He will not leave beyond that...??? If I really encourage him and get all excited about it he will follow me room to room. But he likes to stay in his zone. He is not fearful though. He never jumps at loud noises. He meets large dogs head to head very calm like. He isnt scared of large objects...I havnt found one thing yet he is scared of. In fact..the other day a friend brought his loud four wheeler over and I stood with Skwooshee next to the fourwheeler as my fiance started it and Skwooshee didnt get frightened but watched curiously. He would watch my fiance race down the street back and forth. Bullet, my pit, was more timid around it. WHen the four wheeler was stopped Bullet would crouch really low and creep up behind it with is neck stretched out and he would nibble the tread on the tire! Silly dog.
He walks on a leash alright but most times I just pick him up and carry him...hes too slow for me...hahaha!
AT this time he did develop an ear infection. I think it was my fault...I might have left water in his ears after a bath.
He is an angel for the bath, nails, and drying. I cannot seem to wait even a week before I MUST bath him again. I am assuming he can go longer but....I just cant seem to ...stop...haha. On average I bath him every four to five days. But I make sure to use our salon's hypo allergenic conditioner after shampooing to recondition the skin and coat.
Monday we will be visiting his breeder for a grooming tutorial. SHe is going to show me how SHE does the grooming on her pups. He can also meet his momma and brother again. I love how her dog's coats look. Its always very soft and shiny. She tells me she had this spray oil she uses after the bath. Before she dries the dog she sprays the oil on the coat which helps prevent matting and leaves a bright sheen
I also want to talk to her about showing him if all goes well with his development.
Well thats the update thanks for reading.
