Hi, what a lovely surprise to get all the welcome e-mails from other members. I can tell i'm going to love this site. Just a few words about me and my boy. While going through a divorce and dealing with co-parenting, I started looking for a new family member to share my time with. I found Cooper on Kijiji Ottawa. His family felt they were too busy too give him proper attention and he seemed to be what i was looking for. My son and i went to visit him on a monday night and it was love at first site for the both of us (Cooper and I that is..my son was more interested in the little boy that lived in the house). I took him home the following wednesday and after a quick search of his new surroundings, we quickly bonded and I found out what a treasure the unconditional love a maltese will give his/her person is. His eyes follow me everywhere and he's never happier than when he's sitting on me or beside me. I was hoping he would feel the same way towards my son but it seems like he's a "one-person" dog that will put up with Toby and even play with him a bit but it's me that he looks to for love and play. Which (if i'm being honest), is fine with me...I was the one looking for a new companion and I certainly found one. For the first time in a year, I feel happier, healthier (we go for walks at least 3 times/day) and more content in life. All thanks to a tiny ball of fluff :)

Kim, I completely understand where you are coming from. I love the maltese breed because they are so in love with 'YOU' and provide such emotional fullness in your life. I didn't think I could ever love again after I lose my dear little Kelsey in 2004 to age/illness. But then after 9 months, I knew it was time to get another fluff and along came Kallie. What a beautiful, loving little girl she turned out to be. My problem is that I didn't stop at just one, I ended up with FOUR maltese and ONE Yorkie!!!!!

Welcome to Maltese Talk!!!!! Oh and BTW, you can never post too many pictures so please entertain us with your Cooper's antics and pictures of his lovely face. :)

Having never had a dog before (lots of cats) I didn't realize how much love I was missing (I still love my cat but they're so fickle with their love).

:wink5:(See Kim? I told you this was a great forum)

Both my girls are more attached to me, but I am also the one that grooms them, bathes them, feeds them, trains them, walks them...and I work from home most of the time. It was bound to happen. Not to say they don't love my hubby..they really do, but I agree that there is only one master for these guys.

Hello Kim and welcome to MT! I'm so glad you already love this place!

I'm sorry to hear about your divorce too, but i'm glad it was a good reason to rescue a little companion! Blessing in disguise isn't it? I'm so happy that you have found Cooper! Maltese breed is very loyal to one and i'm glad it's YOU he's loyal to! It's a love like no other... My Snow does the same, his eyes follow me wherever I go, and when I'm out of his sight, he panics! :lol2: He's truly a Mama's Boy..... and that is, like you, perfectly fine with me! :hearter: My BF comes home earlier than I do, and he takes pictures of Snow for me and send them to my phone... as close as they are when i'm not there, Snow STILL stares at the front door waiting for me to come home. :hearter: :hearter: Coming home to Snow is like one of my favorite time of the day because he's just such a happy boy to come home to!

And i looove the picture of cooper! Is that your Son? He's adorable too! Aww.. don't hesitate to post more pictures (even videos)... we love em here!! Welcome again. Can't wait to hear more stories of Cooper. How old is he??

Hi Kim and Cooper and Welcome to MT. I'm sure you will love it here too. Everyone is friendly and helpful and sometimes just a wee bit goofy:D
We love sharing stories and info on our fluffs and ourselves and families. Enjoyed seeing your photo of your son and Cooper. Maltese are for sure dedicated to one person. I was told if you really want a snuggly mama's baby get a boy. I did and Sammy is my baby all the way. Daddy is okay as a toy but I am his security and cuddle mate. Sammy is 6 months old and so much fun. There are many posts on here about his antics. My little girl Belle is 2 and she's a Morkie. She is not a cuddler unless she decides she will (lasts for about a minute) she is a daddy's girl and pretty much always has been unless she is hurt or has a problem then she comes to me. I'm glad you found Cooper to help you over the divorce and raise your spirits, they are good at that. Enjoy him and we will look forward to more photos and stories as he sets his place in the family.
