I've just cried my eyes out watching the news, over the killings in Virgina. I pray for the survivors and the families. It's just terrible.:(

Yes please pray for the my VT community. Two of my friends were shot and one of my friends we still cannot find:( Its the worst feeling having to wait. Please keep all VT students, alum, and parents in your thoughts and prayers. Today was a very sad day among everyone. I have been reflecting all day because it was just last year that I was there. I could have been there. I used to live the dorm where the first shooting happened. I worked in the building directly next to the building where the second shooting occured. So it really hit home as I am sure it did for many of us. :(

So sorry Crystal. I hope your friend is found safe and the 2 that were shot are OK. It is so horrible for us to hear about it with no real connections to it. I can't even imagine what it must be like for you.

Crystal told me they were not going to release any names until all the next of kin were notified...........so that may take some time. I guess the best way to find out information for now is the CNN website.

I just dont understand why this person would do such a thing.
It seems so unreal that this happened.
We are extremly lucky, my sister is on her 4th year and will graduate next month.
We are sooo lucky!!! she was actually on the bus to go to campus that minute the 2nd round of shooting happened in the classroom.
I am just so happy that her and her friends are safe.
Crystal' I am so glad to hear your boyfriend friends are safe also.
Hope your 3rd friend gives you guys a call soon.
I know Verizon is not working so well, we actually got a Instant Message from my sister when this happened.

Victims' identities being released
Courtney Dalton, an 18-year-old student who worked at West End Dining Hall, said a friend named Ryan Clark was one of the two dormitory victims.

She said Clark, a resident assistant at West Ambler Johnston Hall, had once worked at the cafeteria serving pizza.

"He was a happy person; this is really sad," she said, sobbing.

"All I can do is pray for his family now," she told CNN.com. (Watch the police chief explain where bodies were found )

As of early Tuesday, the identities of three other victims had been released:

G.V. Loganathan, a professor of civil and environmental engineering

Liviu Librescu, a professor of engineering science and mechanics

Ross Alameddine, a student from Saugus, Massachusetts.

Thats all I got on CNN.

Andrea, I read an article yesterday that said he chained the classroom doors closed first so no one could get out! People were jumping out of windows...They said he left the room and then tried to come back in and people were trying to keep him from coming back holding the door with their feet. It was a horror movie going on in there. It just makes my stomache hurt thinking of what they went through! I don't think the cops had time to do anything. But I could be wrong.

:( It's so senseless ..Why didn't he just kill himself and leave the rest alone:mad: They got one boy who was there and he was a mess he watched as this nut went up to students and shot them point blank in the head:( he said the gunman had no emotion at all.. I can't tell you how sorry I feel for the families and all those kids who have to relive this nightmare forever..
My heart goes out to them all:(

So sorry Crystal that one of your friends did not make it. It's hard to comprehend that somebody can do such a horrible thing.

My heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected by this tragedy.

We had something similar happen in Au where 35 tourists were murdered in Tasmania for no other reason than, they happened to be there when a maniac decided to go on a shooting rampage. He didn't discriminate either and killed babies and children along with their parents. One thing came out of that massacre, and that was our gun laws changed, and it is now illegal in Au to possess firearms. To own one you have to be licensed, go thru a police check and have a good reason for needing one ie farmer etc.

I am so sorry Crystal that one of your friends didn't make it....

I agree with Andrea it is so hard to comprehend how he was able to do what he did without someone trying to stop him....

:( Well I watched MSNBC and it said how we was able to reload so fast:(
It was the type of guns he used and the rounds were alot, he was so experienced reloading that he did it in a couple of seconds:( What a nut , I feel so horrible for all involved. What a waste of human life..
Crystal my deepest sympathy to you and Floyd:cry2: :big_hug:

Crystal, I am so sorry for what you and your boyfriend are going through. I am sending prayers to your friends families and of course you.

What I have heard on the news ( keep in mind I am in Aussie so correct me if I am wrong), is this kid that did the shooting snapped. Apparently he had been tormented by kids in that school for years, telling him " to go home to china" and just being very racist and cruel. From what we have heard, he suffered this kind of abuse for many years, until he snapped.

I am not excusing what he has done nor making excuses for what he has done, I feel for all families and friends involved. I also feel sad that a person has had to indure such cruelty for so many years, I couldn't imagine how he must have felt walking into school everyday facing that.

So many young inocent lives taken, for no reason, I think people need to realize the impact they can make on a person especially if they have social issues as it is.

I hope people have learnt from this, Yes the gunman was nuts, he was crazy, to snap like that says he must have had a screw loose to start with, BUT Yes the surviviors need to take a good look at the role they played in all of this and the impact and damage there cold cruel words had done.

I Pray for all Families and friends that were involved, I pray that they will be able to move forward with there lives, I pray to give them strength to get up each day and take that step forward. With all my luv to the victims and families. God Bless.

:( Ya know when I was in school I always somehow made friends with the loners or the "not Cool" people.I was drawn to them I always wondered why they were that way, when I was young I didnt understand that things happen sometimes early in life and changes your whole personality and the person you would have been if abuse didn't happen. My friends thought I was nuts , but I always would let the "Not Cool" people know that not everybody was going to be mean to them , not everyone was bad and that I would love to talk and see the person they really are. This guy in my opinion had several chances to get help and his family had a chance to MAKE him get help. This didn't start now this started way back and I know in my heart it's not fully his parents fault, but they also had a responsibility to their son and they missed the boat big time!! We can't blame everyone for our actions.I agree kids are cruel but it's also the parents who should see what is going on and get the kid help. This guy was a monster and I'm glad he killed himself. He did the world a favor in my opinion..
