Animal Shelter Help

Has anyone been down to the Shelter?
I have, last thursday I went down there and donated money and carriars!
I know its not much but still I felt like doing something good!
That morning my mother and I got into a small car accident
and right afterwards made me think like wow I have so much things I want to do but never really did anything about it.

Anyways!
So I went to the shelter so many toy animals there :(
from shihtzu, to chiwawa, beautiful husky's :(

it made me real sad!
And they were ALL beautiful dogs...

Im curious if anyone has ever been to a shelter and was it always packed with a lot of dogs. I don't get it they are so beautiful and sweet, no one really acted out at all... beside one beagle!
I called the maltese rescue lady in Virginia, and she said she isnt doing it anymore.
I know I cant do rescues because I am not a pro but I wouldnt mind doing transports on weekends anyone ever done this?

That's awesome, Jadey!! Yes, we visit the shelter here sometimes and there are always dogs...Never small breed dogs though because I think they get scooped up pretty quickly. But you are right, they are all so beautiful and sweet! I wish I could rescue them all, but I can't :(

:( I can't go to shelters I am way to emotional, it breaks my heart and I can't take it:( I would love to donate. I already donate to this site I give 10 bucks a month and I sponsor a rescue dog till they are adopted, it feels great to know maybe I am helping just a little..

Marisol I know how u feel, I was so tempted to bring home an american pittbull but i knew that was out of the question.
Im real scared of big dogs.

That's so great Andrea!! Sponsoring a dog is a great idea. Usually, hubby and I just donate food and supplies, but that's a wonderful way to help :) I love that!

The shelter were we got Jack has it's own website: www.adoptpetshelter.org. It is a non-profit, no kill organization. They keep updated postings of the dogs there, young, old, big, small, it doesn't matter. Most are pick-ups that were never claimed and sometimes they get the mom and the whole litter in there.
I just became a donating member there. We've taken donations there at Christmas and in May they are having a walk-a-thon. It's 5 miles, and I might try to do it. My right knee is bad (need replacement at some point) but I try to walk everyday to strengthen it up.

I volunteer at an animal shelter EVERY week 2-3 days for several hours . There are ALWAYS , maltese , maltese x's . shih tzu's , and many other gorgeous purebreds . I find adopting and volunteering makes me feel more satisfied than donating money . My last maltese x shih tzu Tess appears on a HUGE mosaic mural at the R.S.P.C.A , right outside the adoption pens , very appropriate .I will always own at least 2 rescues . Sarah

i dropped off some toys and some new collars that the kiddies didnt like using!
