Ack! I just looked at their website yesterday morning, or maybe it was even this morning, checking to make sure. Now I need to make sure my food isn't on there. Thanks for the info!

Miko eats Royal Canin prescription food, and this almost made me sick when I first found out...His food is NOT recalled, but I cannot take the chance with his liver condition. This is getting to be too much...We're switching 100% to home cooked meals today for Miko and Emma. I was crying this morning because Miko hasn't been feeling well the past couple of days and then I find this out. Thank goodness I haven't been feeding him a contaminated food, but geez...

Awww, sorry to hear Miko isn't feeling so well.........poor baby. Give him a hug and pat from me!!! I am so close to doing the home cooking thing too!! So close but not committed yet!!! I do give them some people food mixed in with the Nat. Bal. Duck and Solid Gold Wee Bits..........but after reading on YT that someone may have contaminated some of the food on purpose is really getting scarey. :( :(

I know!! I read that too. They're saying that people are contaminating the food with melamine because it makes the food seem like it has more protein...That's just sick.

i hope miko feels better asap!!! and i will finish the merricks and hopefully it will not be recalled~ i brought like 70 dollars worth of food.
when my boyfriend gets his own place i will make him cook for the babies.
this is crazy royal canine too... marisol what do you think about merricks?

I think the Merricks is fine :) It's made in their OWN food plant, not somewhere like Menu Foods or Diamond food...
She's been totally fine on the Merrick food and she really likes it. I just can't spoil Miko by homecooking for him and not Emma :)
There are several great recipes, I will get some together and send them to you :) There's a book by Dr. Pitcairn's that is really supposed to be wonderful. I am going to be getting it next time I run over to Barnes & Noble, and it tells you recipes and how to home cook for your dogs long-term so that they get the nutrients and vitamins their bodies require :) Dr. Pitcairn's complete guide to NATURAL HEALTH FOR DOGS & CATS

Ok remember I make enough for 2 weeks and freeze the rest. ( I make make 2 portions 1 for each week)

Breakfast:

Brown rice
2 sardines that come in the tomato sauce can
cottage cheese
hard boiled eggs (shell and all)
(I put the egg shell thru the blender with a little veggie stock (low sodium))
a dash of garlic powder

Dinner:
Brown rice
Chicken breast or ground turkey or beef cubes
Veggie stock (can low sodium)
Carrots
Asparagus
Sweet Potato
Broccoli
Califlower
Sweet snap peas
Celery
a dash of garlic powder
Hard boiled egg with shell
Missing Link

I partially put thru the blender the ingredients leaving some of the things with out blending (chopped up)

seperate into two either tupperware of freezer bags and freeze one

She loves it!

Remember to defrost the frozen one in the fridge.
