Hello, I am a new maltese mom

Hello, I just got a my first maltese 2 days ago. His name is Bentley and he is 11 weeks old. He weighed 3.2 lbs on 4/11/07 so I guess that means he will be big. I have a yorkie named Hannah that is 7 months old. I also have a golden retriever and a lab.

I think that my maltese is beautiful, but I took him to work to show him off and a lady that I work with didn't have alot of good things to say about him. She said that she used to have a maltese. She told me that he wasn't a pure bred maltese. She said that he was too big and his coat wasn't good quality and he just didn't look "right". I will post a pic. I would love to hear comments and opinions about him. It doesn't matter to me if he is show quality anyway, I just love him just the way he is. Here is Bentley....

I don't see ANYTHING wrong with Bentley! He looks to have beautiful pigment around his eyes and nose, his hair looks very straight, full and thick. I'm not sure what looks your friend's maltese had for her to compare to, but Bentley is for sure 100% maltese. He is absolutely darling! I'm so sorry she made you feel that way about Bentley but he is for sure very cute and 100% maltese! :D

Hi and Welcome to MT! I think your Bentley is absolutely beautiful. He certainly looks like a Maltese to me. He is gorgeous. I don't know what your co-worker was looking at but I surely am not seeing what she saw. If it doesn't matter to you that he may be big, it shouldn't matter to anyone else. He is only 11 weeks old, he may be a big boy or he may stop growing early. He's precious!

First off, I want to welcome you and Bentley to MT! I am really glad to see you found your way over to us!

Next, I want to tell you that there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with your Bentley! He is the cutest thing ever! And you should be one proud mamma! Your co-worker needs to get some glasses because we are obviously not looking at the same furbaby! I cant believe someone can be so mean to say that to you though....geeze that upsets me!

Bentley is adorable!!! I am sure he is full maltese but my chipper is not. He is mixed with long-haired chihuahua-but I don't care.. He is our baby no matter what. She doesn't sound like someone who should even own a fur baby of any kind-sounds like she's not capable of enough love.

Now to Bentley...............of course he is 100% beautiful! I have no idea what the woman was thinking when she said he was not 100% maltese. It is true they have various coats, sizes but that is not what determines them to be purebred. Don't worry about it, he is a maltese!!!!!

I don't know why anyone would say that to anyone's precious furbaby. She must be a very unhappy person and you know what they say, misery loves company so I would call her misery. Enough about her.

His coat looks thick and white like a teddy bear.
His size is no matter to us. We love all furbabies here.;)
You can never guess how much they will grow and being healthy is THE most impt thing.

Thanks for your comments. I knew that he was beautiful, but it still hurts my feelings when someone talks about him like that. That is no different than if someone said that your newborn baby was ugly. She is vey differnent.

I think he is ADORABLE!!!
She really looks as purebred Maltese,maybe he is big(My dog Maza is big,too,but she is really purebred,she have a papers) and he have a great pigmentation(I think it isn't very often in USA,I saw a lot of American Maltese dog pets and they have a really bad pigmentation).

Hi Genie and welcome to MT. For starter's if your baby is 11 weeks at 3.2 lbs he will probably stay within the standard of under 7 lbs. He has probably got a lot of baby fat on him right now from mom's milk. Also he has wonderful pigmentation and a beautiful coat. That woman was probably jealous and a very hateful person. :mad: I know that she had to have hurt your feelings, and it is so sad that people act in any such a manner. You have a beautiful baby and should be very proud of him. :hearts6:

she has no idea what a maltese is, maybe she had a poodle and thought it was a maltese.

bentley has such a great posture, his tail is nicely up and falls down striaght which is a plus, i think he has great pigement, and from the pictures he looks like he has great hair :D overall he looks like a sweet maltese... i dont think i can ever think he wasnt one.

And maybe her Maltese that she THOUGHT was pure breed was not which is why she didn't realize that yours was a Maltese. Its people like that that make me mad! Its like don't open your mouth unless you know what you are talking about.lol I love the pics!! Don't even worry about the other woman. Thanks everyone, I am very proud of Bentley, I think he is beautiful. I talked to "that lady" last week and she said she bought her daughter a peekapoo, she was talking about how small it was and stuff and then she mentioned about how it was akc registered......I think she has a psychological problem.
