So I've changed Fifi's food to Innova Red Meat small bites. The first few days it was great, she loved it and ate perfectly. Now she's getting tired of it, ugh!! Lol. She's only been eating at dinner time. She begs and cries in the morning because she's hungry so when I set her bowl down to eat (which just has the dry kibble) she sniffs it and walks away and goes to lay down on the couch. I let the bowl sit there for about 30 mins and then pick it up and take it away. For dinner time I mix in the yogurt with her dry kibble and she licks the bowl clean. But I don't want her to be a picky eater in the sense that she'll only eat if there is something added into it. I don't know what to do! When she doesn't eat she begs and begs and cries, but when I give her her food she doesn't want it.
Any ideas or tips? Thanks :)

Um I had the same problem with Sofia but I found Infinia Holistic the Bison one and she loves it. Not sure if it would work for Fifi but give it a try if you can find it on your town. I think the trick here is be patient and keep on looking for the one. I went through almost 7 brands until I found Sofia's kibble so. Most pet stores have sample bags. Try getting those instead of buying the whole thing. Good Luck!

I had the same problem as both of you will Belle. We would buy a food and she would like it for a day or two and then she wouldn't eat it the next day. I tried everything to get her to eat. I must have been through almost every kind of dog food there was:mad: Then we found Fresh Pet Select and have been feeding that ever since. She loves it and we buy different kinds to give her a change once in a while. I also free feed Fromm Solid Gold that Sammy's breeder had the puppies on and Belle loves that too. I think it you sent a message to Fromm's they would send a sample. Not everywhere carries that so you might have to do an internet search for who has it. I would think most pet stores do. The Fresh Pet Select we get at the grocery store in the refrigerator case in the dog food isle. Lots of people have changed to Fresh Pet because they have fussy eaters. It comes in a tube and I just slice off some and chop it up. They also carry treats and other kinds of foods too.

Sorry no help here! I gave up on kibble a long time ago. I have some Innova just in case. They are on a combination of stella&Chewy, Weruva human style, fresh pet homestyle and homecooked. I am very happy with weruva can food but they have limited protein sources mainly chicken that is why i have incorporated Stella and chewys. They only get stella n chewys at night combined with homecooked. They arent allergic to grains so I add grains and veggies. My local grocery stores carries Fresh Pet select so on occasion I feed them it. This is how I keep them happy and eating. I couldnt deal with the stress of feeding kibble. I work part time it was really hard to know I left and they hadnt ate. They LOVE there new diet.

Mine eat Solid Gold kibbles during the day but in the evening they get a special supper. It always changes.
For an adult one feeding a day is not bad.

Thank you all, I've seen the fresh pet select at the grocery store as well but I honestly never stopped to look and see what it was. I have to go in the next few days so I'll look at it then. When she eats her dinner she eats a good amount... It's not like she has a bite or two. Like I said, with the yogurt she licks the bowl clean.

Rocky tends to be picky too so I started mixing canned and dry food. I understand you dont want to have to always top it with something, however I dont see how wasting money trying different brands would be any better. Good luck with whatever you decide :)

I used to do this for her as well, and then I found out she was allergic to chicken.. Which was the kind of can food and kibble I was feeding her. So after that her vet put her on a strict diet and now he gave the okay to add a few things to her diet. But Miss Fifi enjoys being picky because she knows it breaks my heart when she doesn't eat! lol

how is she doing? Any improvements?
BTW since she is allergic to chicken that could be the cause of her tear stains. Im sorry if this has already been said.

Somehow I missed this thread when it was first posted but I also have a few picky eaters and went through bag after bag of kibble and came to realize, they just don't like kibble! I also feed the Fresh Pet Select along with a variety of different canned foods. I rotate the proteins so they don't develop any allergy to any one protein source (Nikki is already allergic to chicken). They eat venison, salmon, buffalo, duck and beef. My favorite brands of the canned food are Party Animal, Addiction and Evangers. I don't feed them the same thing every day so they don't get bored.
I buy all of my food from a dog boutique near me (she only carries the top rated dog foods) and I have really gotten to know the owner very well and we have discussed Nikki's chicken allergy and interestingly enough, she said that they can be allergic to one brand of chicken and not another. In other words, it depends on the quality of the chicken in the product. Just some food for thought (no pun intended! :awink:)
