Just wanted to advise NOT to purchase from Julie Chase, Derby, Vermont. Less than 24 hours after bringing my puppy home, he went into hypoglycemia convulsions. Fortunately, I got him into an emergency vet for hospitalization and he is okay. However, I never received registration papers that were verbally promised to me and now the puppy is 6 months old. I do realize that this was partially my fault for being too trusting, but I had purchased from her before and didn't have reason to doubt her word. Just a warning for anyone in New England looking for a puppy. Thankfully, my puppy is happy and healthy!

Northwest Pennsylvania too far from New Enland? We bought our little Daisy Lou from Silverbrook Maltese. We are very happy with her. Google or search Silverbrook Maltese for information. Good luck!

Just a heads up.....The breeder from Derby, Vermont....Julie Chase, has another litter of pups for sale at 8 weeks old. Since I had a bad experience with her last July, 2011, and still have not received papers from her, I would caution anyone from purchasing from her. It's also obvious she's breeding too often.....it's the same mother as my pup's mother. My pup was born last April. :(

Grace, I don't know if the same rules apply for AKC papers but up here in Canada the breeder has to get your registration papers with the CKC to you within six months. If they don't you can report them to the CKC. One of my dogs had a breeder who was trying to withhold papers from me and I told her I was going to report her and magically there was no more problem. I would contact her and ask for the papers and if she doesn't send them promptly I'd report her.

Ginamaried, a good breeder in Greensburg PA is Josy Dieppa of Josymir Maltese. Google her website to find her. I have one of her precious angels and I had nothing but a good experience with her. She and I keep in touch so she is always there to help if I need her. If you have to wait for a puppy it is worth it!

Thanks so much. I contacted her and she finally responded. I guess a little arm twisting goes a long way. Thanks again.

Grace, Josy is wonderful and has been very busy recently with a special Maltese that lost his mommy and needs a new home. His mommy passed away from cancer and Shadow had been her baby boy for 8 years. Josy made a promise to her that she would find a wonderful home for Shadow with a couple that would love him and spoil him like his mommy did. Josy has spent a lot of time getting Shadow back and making sure he is doing okay and getting him to his new mommy as soon as she could. That shows just what kind of breeder and person that Josy is. I would never hesitate to buy a puppy from her.
