cheap dog food made from toe nails & hooves!

I was talking to my vet regarding dog food and asking her suggestions. We use a lamb and rice high grade food. It makes very little stool she said that it was good. We also have two on a special diet for a trial period.
I asked her about the cheap foods having such a high protein content and and she said that often they would use toe nails and hooves for parts of their protiens! yuk! Not recommended for my babies! You really do get what you pay for.

I could be wrong but I'm not so sure that that is the truth in today's market. Yes, I too feed Sassy premium foods but I'm not sure the company's could get away with what they did years ago. Today they are goverened and if you read the label the by-products are not stomach renderings, feathers, hooves, etc. There is a website:
