There is a nonprofit organization based out of Brooklyn that offers a variety of online services, including 4 live chat rooms that address topics ranging from losing a pet to anticipatory bereavement. You can check it out at:

www.APLB.org (Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement)

Closer to home (Illinois), I have found a service that's out of Orland Park. It is run by a husband and wife team called, 'Cubby's Compassionate Pet Service'. They provide at-home euthanasia with the help of licensed vets who accompany them on house calls. They can be checked out at:

www.CubbyCares.com

When we had to put Max to sleep back in Aug. 05 I hated taking him to the vet's office. It was cold, smelled like a hospital, and made us all so nervous.
The next time I have to go through this I want it to be at home with us in a peaceful setting.

Thanks for the information.........losing a furkid is really hard to deal with. I just cried a lot and allowed myself to mourn. Sometimes it is a matter of time passing to get over the loss, as was the case with my last baby. But somehow we all move on with a little whole in our heart from the loss!!! Gone but NEVER forgotten!!!

Sometimes they go on their own and sometimes they go by unfortunate circumstances and then there are times we need to help them go. But no matter, it is still a painful loss that hurts for a long time.
