Hello everyone. I am so excited to be a member. I have read several posts and am excited to absorb all the information i can. I have an adorable 12 week old Morkie-Bandit. He is the center of our world. We have some distinct differences at our house with raising this puppy. Im a night shift charge nurse so Bandit has some major adjusting and so do we sigh. Very difficult on the potty training but the situation improves by the day. We (my kids and i) love him sooo much, Im not sure how we every managed without him ;) Thank you so much in advance for your friendship and insight, i look forward to getting to know you all. Hugs Donna:hearter:

Hi Donna and welcome to Maltese Talk!

Bandit is adorable!!! He looks like a yorkie and is just adorable. Who wouldn't fall in love with that cutie pie face!!! It's sweetness!!!

Glad you joined the forum and thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself and Bandit. I have friends that named their fluff Bandit and he is also a morkie. Several members of MT have morkies. They are all beautiful and so unique in the coloring and personality!!

I love the name Bandit, it's as cute as the owner :D

In my opinion 12 weeks is too young for a pup to comprehend exactly what you want. So it will take a little more time until his potty train. A good suggestion is too keep him enclose in a section of your home so he won't pee everywhere. Once he starts marking it will be really hard to make him stop. A playpen is a good place to keep him or maybe your kitchen when no one is watching him.

You can shower us with his pics :D

Hi Donna,
Welcome to MT. :woof: I have a Morkie named Tebow who just turned 1 in November. He is just the greatest little dog.

Hang in there with the potty training. He's young and Maltese and Yorkies are both known to be hard to train. (I'll vouch for that!) Working adds 1 more challenge. The play pen is a good idea. I got an X-pen for Tebow for when I was at work. You can see what they look like on Petco or Petsmart. Then go to Target and buy one in the baby department. Same pen and a lot cheaper. Only difference is a baby on the box instead of a dog. I put his crate and a pee pad in there. Tebow is now fully outside trained and gaining some freedom in the house (slowly!). I've separated his X-pen into 2 pieces and blocked off 2 doorways so now he has run of half of the downstairs. Another good thing to have on hand is some Nature's Miracle. Petsmart and Petco carry Nature's Miracle. When he makes a mistake (and he will) clean with that as it removes the smell (that we can't smell) so he won't think that is the place to go next time.

Keep the pictures coming. It is so much fun to watch Morkies grow. Tebow did a lot of color changing this year. :welcome:

Hi Donna, so glad you decided to join us here on MT. Your little Bandit is adorable and I love his coloring. I'm Sue and I'm one of those with a Morkie, she is Belle and 3 years old and very hyper. I have begun to see that there is a difference between male and female Morkies in personality. My other babies are Sammy my 1 year old male Maltese and our newest is an adopted retiree Rosie. She is a Maltese and 6 years old and only 4 pounds.
Potty training Belle was a challange but with patients and lots of praise and "potty treats" we made it. They are all pee pad trained as we live in MN and it's just too cold for them outside. Sammy came potty trained from his breeder, she sells all her pups pre-trained which is awesome. Rosie is also pad trained. We'll be looking forward to hearing your adventures with Bandit, Sammy has led to many adventures on here with the things he does. Maltese do what we call zoomies where they just take off for no reason and run as fast as they can all over for about 2 minutes then they stop:lol2: Belle also does this so it apparently carries over to the Morkies. I worked nights in the emergency room for almost 4 years so I know the challanges. I'm still a night person, my husband says I'm like a baby with it's days and night mixed up.:o
You'll find that we all love pictures and videos so feel free to post your photos anytime. One thing you should have on hand is Nutrical for low blood sugar. It can happen out of the blue with these little guys. If you don't have Nutrical you can use the clear Karo and put a couple drops in their mouth. I had one scary one with Sammy and thank God I was sitting and watching him. He couldn't walk straight and his eyes wouldn't focus. I was so greatful that I had the Nutrical, I'm a diabetic so I always have stuff on hand.
Looking forward to getting to know you.

Donna, we need some pictures of sweet little Bandit! I can't wait to see if he changes in color. I have a yorkie and when we brought him home at six months, he was a dark color on his back and silver around his head. Well he is now rusty tan around his head and his back is a light silver....but still adorable as ever!

More pictures, please!
