Hello everyone,
I recently adopted a new maltese pup. She'll soon turn four months old. It's the first dog I've ever owned, and boy is she a handful! Sometimes I feel like pulling out my hairs, but overall she's so adorable, and in all honesty a wonderful well-behaved little girl...for a pup.
The reason I chose this breed after very careful and considerable research is because they grow to become the most sweetest, loyal and affectionate companions. I'm looking foward to a having a similar bond with her as to one I had with my recently deceased sweet boy who passed away a couple months ago, which left me pretty much shattered.
I'm pretty much reclusive and a no-nonsense kind of person. I'm even suprised to be on this kind of forum, but I'm here for her because she deserves to have a mommy who is well-equiped with as much infortmation as possible to make her life as happy as can be.
Today for the first time I took her out to do what they call "socialize", and anyone who knows me knows that's like dipping me in boiling lava. I have absolutely 0 interest in people. I am not a mean person, just not overly affectionate with society. I don't even watch TV because people basically disgust me.
You might be kind of asking yourself why would a person like me get a sweet dog like her? well, remember Leona Helmsley? she used to be a bitch, but boy did she lover her Maltese! she ended up leaving her dog a cool $12 mil.
So being unsociable with the world has nothing to do with the affection one shows a dearly beloved pet.
I'm here because I seek advice on many different aspects of her upbringing and hope in time to slowly develop a relationship with some of the members here. I had joined another Maltese site but left because I felt the people were rather phony and not honest with themselves. I hope I'm welcome, if not that's ok too.
My little girls name is Olivia.

Welcome to Maltese Talk Olivia and Olivia's mom!
I'm really glad you joined the forum and hope you enjoy the members and the information. We're always glad for new ones to share their opinions as well and we love seeing pictures of everyone's fluffs!
I know how devastating it can be to lose a beloved pet especially when you have such a wonderful bond with. When I lost my Kelsey who was a mix, I thought I would just throw in the towel......ignore people and life in general. She meant the world to me because of all that she gave to me. It took me over nine months to even "look" for another fluff. I stumbled on the maltese by accident and watched a video of a couple small ones running around in full coat and I fell in love with that look. We read up on them about their lovely personality and we were sold on having one. We adopted our first one when she was 2 1/2 years old so no puppy stage. Now we have four maltese and one yorkie boy. Each of them bring something wonderful to the family.
I am 100% certain that you will never regret adopting a maltese....they are absolutely wonderful fluffs in every way.
Congratulations on your new little baby girl, Olivia!!!!!

One simple bond we all have is the love we have for our furkids. :)

Thanks, everyone.
I have some issues with potty training...of course, that I'd like to discuss and see what your thoughts are. I'll try to write a very specific detailed post about it tomorrow because tonight I'm totally wiped out.

If you hate people no problem as long as you love your furball. I hate crowded places and only attend if my skinkids are involve.
I'm an observer and I can tell you people can be annoying. And boy do I love annoying people too

Hi and welcome to you and Olivia here on Maltese Talk. I too lost a furbaby who was my life and wasn't sure I could make it through. Then we got Belle our now 3 years old Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie) and she really helped me heal and is our little girl. Then we got Sammy who is my 1 year old male Maltese and my sweet baby. Don't know what I'd do without Sammy. Recently we adopted a 6 year old Retiree Rosie who is 6 yrs old and oly 4 pounds. I truly love the Maltese breed and their personalities. They bond very deeply with their owners and give unconditional love. We will all be more than happy to answer your questions. Between all of us some one will have the answer or help you find somewhere that you can find it. Looking forward to getting to know both of you. We also love pictures of everyones babies.

Hello! Welcome to Maltese Talk.. If you want to learn some about caring for Olivia you are at the right place! You will learn so much in this forum and everyone here is sweet and very helpful. We all love new people! :) Can't wait to see some pictures of Olivia. I am sorry for your loss.
Hi & Welcome! I'm pretty reclusive myself so kind of know where you're coming from. My little CiCi is a rescue and has some separation anxiety which I unintentionally reinforce because I don't like to leave home myself!
As others have said, this is a friendly and helpful place. We can't wait to see photos of your little Olivia!

Sorry I won't be able to share pictures. I tried it and it's too complicated. Said my pics were too big, so I don't feel like trying to figure it all out right now.
May I ask why this site doesn't use photobucket? it's so much better view normal size pics and be able to scroll them rather than to hit each and every little dumbnail. Just wondering.
Perhaps I'll start blogging her pics in batches..for safe-keeping.

[QUOTE=Olivia;224288]Thanks, everyone.
I have some issues with potty training...
Hi and welcome to MT Olivia and her mom. Ahhhhh potty training. I use pee pads and best of all I also have the "Green Patch" and it is wonderful. It looks like a green patch of grass in a little tray. Here in Ottawa, the weather can be quite cold and sometimes the girls just don't want to go outside :)
