When I bathed Olivia last week I realized it wasn't an easy task to dry and brush at the same time. Hubby had to help me.

Does anyone here use a hands-free for their pet?

I've seen the hands free blow dryers but never personally tried them. When I blow dry Fifi I brush her out, blow dry, stop and brush her out again, and blow dry. That's my method of doing it, it normally takes me between 30-45 minutes. Now that her coat is getting longer it's been taking me about an hour. You'll find a method that works for you though. :)

When I blow dry mine I sit on the floor and they are on their side in my lap and I can dry and brush at the same time then we flip over and do the other side. I can see where the hands free dryer would be nice though.

I've enslaved my mother to help me do this :lol2:

But yeah, it is kinda tough to dry 'em while brushing them out. I have to do it later tonight and I'm somewhat avoiding the task until the last possible moment. But I'm thinking of investing in a dryer stand or something since I would rather just keep using my own hair dryer - it has a low-heat and low-fan setting on it already.

I returned a free-hand dryer because he was too big. I now have a wall mounted dryer (for people). I put the dryer on top of some books or towels to be able to use both of my hands.

I actually use two blow dryers on JiJi. I hold one and the other I tilted in my restroom drawer.

I have read about one of those frying a dog from the inside so I'm scared of them. But I'm sure if you use the low setting you'll be fine.

Are you talking about like a cage dryer or a dryer that sits on a stand? I personally don't like the cage dryers, I feel like the dogs are being put into a clothes dryer. But I know a few members here use a regular dryer that they put on a stand so they have both their hands free

I use the same blow dryer on Mitzy as I use on my own hair and brush/comb as I blow dry her

No, not the cage dryers. The dryers with a holder, or perhaps a different product I'm not yet aware of. Common sense tells me a cage dryer would be traumatizing.

Thanks for all the advice and ideas. This is so new to me.

I was using my blow dryer and I found it difficult to blow dry and brush, especially with a full coat. So I purchased an arm that attached to the table and would hold the dryer.......it worked rather well but took forever to dry them. So I said to myself, why not get a commercial blow dryer to get the job done quickly. Well, it is one powerful machine and nearly blows little Buffy off the table. Only one setting and it isn't warm so I have to turn it on before I get to the brush out so it's a little warm. I'm not really happy with it and thought about going back to the blow dryer arm........IF the hubby helps me, that's a whole different story cause then I have his two arms and mine to get the job done. :p:p:p

Hi...at first I purchased this blow dryer and liked it and the noise level is lower which is good. But still had trouble controlling my little one while blow drying.

I then purchased this grooming table and WOW no more issues when blow drying - it is a really nice workable grooming table for little ones.

i have this, http://www.petedge.com/product/Grooming/Grooming-Equipment/Dryers-Dehumidifiers/Edemco-Economy-Stand-Pet-Dryer-wHeat/pc/190/c/191/sc/263/43129.uts

this one isnt expensive, and i think it is because it only has two air settings, cold and warm. Its bulky but gets the job done. Had it for 5 years now. (My friend also got one but she says hers is broken because it doesnt get warm) For us it gets really warm so I have to kick the stand back a little.

I gave up on grooming tables. I have them in their towels, laying on my lap and I sit on the sofa while I blow dry them out. And using a brush is so easy. I actually sometimes use this dryer too cause of the cool setting instead of the warm setting. I like it.

I have an arm that clamps onto the grooming table and holds a dryer. It's bendable and you can put it in different positions, I usually start out with that and then take the dryer off to get places it doesn't reach.

I like it but it is expensive for me too :(

Gonna see if Santa might bring it if I put it in my good girl list

I purchased this Andes Blow Dryer a while ago and used it yesterday. I was so impressed! It worked wonderfully, not too loud, and Teddy Bahr reacted very well to it. I had been keeping it on for short periods of time during this past week, prior to his bath, just to get him used to it. It sure got the job done quickly! It has nice adjustments to it to concentrate the blow dryer on specific areas while combing, but also worked well when I moved it farther away to give out gentle heat in general.

The grooming table I got was a standing table (not the round, circular one) for a bit larger of a dog. It has been a god send, let me tell you! I can't say Teddy loves it, but it makes the job so much easier!! I also got a double halter accessory that slips behind his back haunches to keep him in a standing position, as well as one for around his neck. It's padded with a soft rubber (I found it on Amazon) and it, also, made combing out and keeping him still so much easier. Another product I highly recommend!!

I started out with all the same products that you posters are using. In fact last year I took my own hair dryer and one of those bendable holders to shows with me to use for spot drying. After awhile I started getting more dogs so more and more bathing! I was first of all going to get one of those dryers that look almost like a vacuum and have a hose to blow air at the dogs. It is really powerful. I mentioned it to my malt's breeder and she told me that it mostly blows either room temp. air or lukewarm air and the babies would get too cold. So I purchased a stand dryer. It has about 4 settings on it and you can position it anywhere you want. It is the final answer if you have lots of dogs! I did purchase one of the vacuum types but for my Golden.
