This morning before heading to work I noticed some icky red mucus on the floor so I thought ok maybe one of my furbabies had the runs or maybe cough up something...

Well coming home today to find a nasty site...slimy brown and red spots all over the tiles and wall plus vomit on their bed...(i keep them in the bathroom while at work)...as i picked up each and every one to see who is making the mess...i noticed Kandie in the corner shaking and her anal was cover in blood....

She is pooping bright red blood and vomiting...my first instinct is to grab her and head to the vet...got there only to realize that they close at noon on Wednesday...just my luck...so I drive around trying to locate another vet which I had no luck with...I gave up and went home to open the phone book...

I called up the vet and she gave me 2 scenario..
1) PARVO
2) something she ate

My heart was pounding and I started asking about PARVO and what I need to do. Then I asked if she has it then why are my other 3 dogs running around like normal...she was just fine yesterday...then I remember that on Sunday i let her out ...and the night before my little sister had a birthday party and she threw a BBQ...and I was chasing Kandie around the backyard because she was finding little bits and pieces of what was tossed on the grass and was eating it. So we cleaned up the backyard...and being that it was a nice day we let them play outside for an hour or so. When it was time to come back in...I noticed that 3 of the trash bags were torn apart and who knows what she had ate from them..

I am praying that all it is an upset stomach...and not PARVO. But I can't be sure until tomorrow when I can take her to the vet...as for right now...I am monitoring her and making sure she gets enough liquid so she doesn't dehydrate. But have to keep her away from my other 3 in case it is PARVO.

Poor baby!! I am sorry Kandie is not feeling well. I hope it is just something she ate or a stomach flu. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers and that she gets well soon!!:getwell: :nursing:

:( I am so sorry Kandie is sick:( Was she vaccinated for Parvo? You need to keep her as well as your surroundings very clean at all times now. She needs to be separated from the others and her feces needs to be picked up immediately and thrown out, use Bleach and water to clean food and water
bowls, wash the bedding, try and disinfect all the areas where Kandi has been like tile floor crates etc....Just to be on the safe side I pray it isn't Parvo either, like I said was she vaccinated for it?
I will be keeping you and Kandi in my prayers, please please let us know what happens..

I am praying that it isn't Parvo. I am VERY concerned that the vet you got in contact with ( the one that gave you two scenarios) didn't want to see her ASAP, most vets have some kind of Emergency clinic.
The fact she has blood coming out of your anal area and around her anal area, has me deeply concerned, If she had eated something terrible, it could be lodged or tearing her on the inside. I am not trying to panic you, but I would suggest a full xray or ultra sound and blood works done, I would definitly have her at the Emergency clinc.

I am praying everything is ok, please get your baby to a vet ( even if you think she looks better, please have her checked over for peace of mind). All the best

i too am praying it isn't PARVO...i checked on her this morning and made sure i gave her some water through a syringe in case she didn't drink any last night...although it looked like she did from the level of the bowl...now i am waiting at work to call the vet to see when he will be able to see us...thanks.

Any update?
just got back from the vet...she doesn't think it is PARVO..more on the lines of what she had ate...so she injected fluids into her...and some antibotics...and sent me home with some amoxicillian type of medication to administer starting tomorrow since she has already injected some antibotics...

took her home and she is sound asleep now back and work...was told that if kandie doesn't get better or i feel more concern then to bring her back for some labwork. She also felt on kandie tummy and stated that there is a lot of gas buildup probably from the food she ingested but don't feel any bones or other foriegn objects...

so i am hoping that kandie starts to get better here in the next 24 hrs.

Did the vet say what could have caused the BLEEDING, I am still worried about that. I will continue to pray, please keep us updated

she said some dogs have a very sensitive stomach...and if they ingest something that is not in their normal routine it will cause diarhea and vomitting. And when dogs have diarhea they may think they have to go all the time and the constant pushing can irritate the large intestine..which will cause red blood to come out...

Kandie i a lot better now...her stool is beginning to get harder...still mushy but its getting there...

she has her tag wagging constantly now...and wants to play and go out...she is almost 100% better....and I am so glad!
