Our Maltese Bella is 16 Month's old and has learned to do her business on the wee wee pads with no problems. The problem is with our 4 1/2 month old Pomeranian Summer who refuses to pee on the pads. She pees all over. We were hoping she would follow Bella's footsteps and learn from her but no such luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob, welcome to :mtwelcome:

It may just take a little bit more time for Summer to learn about peeing on the pee pads. I would see if she does anything to indicate that she is about to go. LB starts sniffing and goes around in a circle. If you see Summer doing something similar, I would place her on the pee pad. Consistency and patience is the key.

Other people may offer better suggestions. Good luck.

Mine are outdoors trained so I really don't kow how the pee pad thingie works but I am sure others will chime in and give you some advice.

I know that housetraining takes your utmost attention to them, time and patience. When I housetrain a dog, I live, eat, sleep and breath every moment with them until they "get it." But not everyone is in a position to do that!!!

I have been trying to train Snow to go on the pads. I keep her in the bathroom when we both are gone. She was going on the pads but last night - the first time I had to leave her alone at night - she pooped and peed right in front of the door. She pulled her blanket on top of the pad. It was not a good night - got home at 11 to clean her, the bathroom floor and the wall where she had walked in the mess and jumped on the wall. She will go outside but she doesn't let me know she has to go. I really wanted to train to go on the pads because it might rain (hasn't in weeks) or get cold this winter (it didn't last winter).

Thanks for the replies. Summer seems to go poop sometimes on the pads.

We are in the procees of moving right now and will be living with my parents for a few weeks. They will be in a playpen most of the time while we are there so hopefully that will teach her to use the pads?

Yes, you did mean to interrupt this thread or you wouldn't have posted......................duh!

Yes, it is a rare and unusual thing for me not to know............but I do know they are used for dogs to poop and pee on!!!!! But how to train the dog to use them, well, now that is a whole different field for me!

So Omega, why don't you tell us how to train a dog to use them!!! Little Miss Expert!!!:p :p

But I do know why poop stinks? DO YOU?
Poop stinks as a result of the products of bacterial action. Bacteria produce smelly, sulfur-rich organic compounds such as indole, skatole, and mercaptans, and the inorganic gas hydrogen sulfide. These are the same compounds that give farts their odor.
