WELCOME TO MT LISA
Sorry, I have no idea of a breeder in your area that specifically breeds for the Morkie! I have a maltese and a yorkie but not pups in the future with them..............spayed and neutered!
Hope you find what you are looking for, a special little furbutt! I understand it is a nice mixture of the two breeds!

Where did you find your morkie? and thank you for the welcome!
I don't have a morkie........I have one Yorkie male and one female maltese so my name reflects my ownership of each breed............sorry! I know a lot of people think I have a morkie but I don't, just couldn't think of a name without including my babies and of course with hubby & me, that makes 4 sooooooooo, Morkie4.

ok I have to say what I feel, sorry!:( Mixed breeds .So called "Breeders"who breed 2 purebreds and then call them Morkies,Cockapoos,Yorkteese. .These people only do it for the money and they charge ridiculous prices. They breed with every heat. They are not genetic or health tested. These are Back yard breeders .There are no reputable breeders of mixed breeds, reputable breeders breed for a standard and when you breed and get mixed puppies, you don't know what you are going to get :( and they can have alot of health problems since these breeders don't test for health or specific problems . Is there any reason why you want a Morkie? I am only telling you this , cause this is how I feel, please dont get offended .I wish you luck in whatever you decide, I just wanted to let you know some facts.

I'm not offended...the reason we would like a Morkie is my youngest daughter is allergic to many dogs. My parents have "Zues" a morkie and she is around him and he doesn't cause her any problems. I grew up with dogs and have missed not having one...My husband really likes Zues so we thought we'd go with what we semi know (not much!) What we are trying to avoid is a puppy mill or the breeder that is out for the bucks. We though this would be a good place to try and weed out the baddies :)

Thank you for stating my own thoughts on this issue so well.
I have no problems with 'mutts'. I have one. I got him from a shelter. Huge price of $65.00 which covered his neutering.
I do have a problem with people, (I refuse to call them 'reputable breeders') who breed to make a quick buck on this countries obsession on these so called 'designer dogs'. These buyers pay more for a mutt than they would for a well bred purebred dog by a reputable breeder.
What really scares me is the demand for these dogs. Which increases the price, and keeps these 'people' breeding/mixing different breeds of dogs to meet that demand.
Don't mean to come across as harsh. I just feel strongly about the poor breeding going on right now for supply and demand. The dogs are the ones to pay for it. The shelters are full of so called 'designer dogs' who did not meet the expectations of what the buyers wanted.
Bottom line:
A reputable breeder breeds for the betterment of the breed they love. Which is how it should be.

I don't know about maltese, but yorkies are actually hypoallergenic dogs. In terms of "breeders" you might have better luck going for one breed or the other.

Maltese also, they have hair similar to ours. My husband has extreme allergies and he has never had a problem. Whatever you decide best of luck and we all are here for you..

Hubby has allergies to cats but not dogs..........we thought! We had a silky terrier but was told that she was a yorkie and they do look very much alike. But it turned out it aggrevated my hubby's allergies (breathing)!!! So we went with a true yorkie and no problems with his breathing. Kallie was never a problem and she is our maltese!
Grandson also has allergies and when we just had Kallie, he was fine, but now that we have the yorkie, he has to take an allergy tab before he comes over...........he may just be overly sensitive.

I agree, why don't you try looking for reputable breeders of each breed (yorkies and also maltese). It's going to be difficult to find a reputable breeder of morkies. You might find a pup that you fall in love with whether it be a maltese or a yorkie :) Good luck in your search, and if you're looking for a breeder of yorkies or maltese, we can direct you to some very reputable ones. Good luck!! I have a yorkie and a maltese, and they are both awesome!! I love both of their temperaments. The only big difference is keeping the hair white on a maltese, but as long as you bathe them regularly and keep the face hair clean everyday, they're not much harder to take care of than a yorkie.

Thanks all of you! Now, what are the "smart" questions to ask so that we don't end up interested in a pup that is from a mill or over bred parents? I went to puppyfind.com last night but there is very little info there, lots of cute pup pictures to get you sucked in :) but no real info...
i never had a yorkie...
but always had white dogs...
like my 1st dog was a white chiwawa, then bison, then maltese...
if i get married one day and have a place of our own...
i will want to get a yorkie one day from a reputable breeder.

Hi Andrea,
We are still looking...hoping to find an older morkie puppy :) Doing lots of looking online and talking with our vet. We are taking our time and trying to find the right pup for us and our home. I'm really interested in maybe finding one through a rescue or from a sheltar and I've had some leads and will continue to pursue them. Our house is not quite ready for a pup, AND we leave on Wednesday for Europe for 6 weeks. SO! wrapping up work, sorting clothes to pack, daughter broke her arm, I had surgery last week and my RA is flared horribly. {taking a deep breath :D }
I love the support and help from everyone at MT!
Have a good week and I'll catch up when we return!

Glad you are taking your time to find the right pup, Lisa. So many people buy and then fail to realize the work and time and breed is important things to consider..........thus lots of dogs in shelters and rescues!!! You are being right smart about it!
Sorry to hear about all your difficulties too! Man when it rains it pours!
Hope you have a great time in Europe!!!! See you when you get back!!!
