Hi and another Welcome to Maltese Talk. We love having new members and getting to know them and their fluffs. Like the girls said we love pictures too. The picture of Maddie is adorable, she's so fluffy and love that face. How old is she? I like the name you picked for her too, that's fitting for a little girl.
My name is Sue and I have 2 1/2 Maltese:lol2: I have Sammy my big guy who is just 1 and Rosie who is 6 and the half is Belle my Morkie (Maltese/ Yorkie mix). Looking forward to seeing lots of you and Maddie.

Oh gosh! Ciara is adorable too! You have 2 beautiful little babies!!! Do they like each other?

You will get a lot of different responses about the shampoo. I like the Pure Paws line the best. If you get a whitening shampoo, only use it about once a month because it will dry her coat out. :)

I love the pictures of Maddie and Ciara!!! They are both adorable!!

I have four female maltese and one yorkie boy! They are a handful but they each bring something different to our family.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your babies. It's going to be fun for us to watch little Maddie grow up here on MT and to hear all about her little personality and antics.

I also like Pure Paws, Bless the Beast and or a conditioner I love Chris Christensen's Pro Pac......awesome stuff for a maltese.

Welcome! Both of your babies are so cute and it's so nice that they get along well.

I don't have any recommendations on shampoos as I usually take my CiCi to the groomers. I do have some Earth Bath that I use when I have to bathe her. It's a hypoallergenic shampoo that my friend who runs a natural pet store gave me. It seems to clean well but not make her coat too dry.

BTW- I'm Jan & I'm the mom of CiCi, a maltese we adopted from a rescue about a year and a half ago.

Welcome to Maltese Talk!! Congrats on your Dougie!!

Are you indoor or outdoor training him??

You may try posting a new thread in the Health and Behavoir section or even doing a search for "potty training" to get some better info :)

Congrats on getting Dougie.........and Welcome to both of you to the wonderful Maltese Talk Forum.

I am sure you will get a lot of suggestions, opinions and help from our experienced members regarding potty training but we need to know if you are training him to go outside or on pee pads. :)

Lots of treats and alot of patience from your side. When your puppy stars snifing around that's a sign for potty time. Make a huge fuzz when he takes care of business.

Hi and Welcome to Maltese Talk. Congratulations on getting Dougie and since you are in Minnesota you may want to train him on pee pads as cold as it gets here. I have 3 and they all use pee pads year round. I live only about half an hour from you so same weather. Watching for signs of sniffing or circling are signs of potty and when he does go be sure to priase and I use treats too. Be patient with him, sometimes they are stubborn but they do catch on. How much does Dougie weigh? Sometimes that can count on inside or outside. I have them all sized from Sammy who is about 11 pounds and Belle who is 8 pounds and Rosie who is 4 pounds.

Sue (angeleyes) made a good point about the weather situation. But I know that you can still do outside potty training if you clear an area for him to go.

Definitely watch for him to circle and sniff for an area. IF he goes inside the house, clean the area up really really good or he will return to that area. When I was outside potty training my fluffs, I watched them like hawks and took them out after a nap, shortly after eating and before going to bed but of course there were many trips out in between those times. I did have the advantage of owning more than one fluff so when one goes, they all go.

TREATS are a must here at my house. Every time they go potty outside, they go right to the fridge for their treat for being good fluffs. That part, I think, was "them" training "me.":lol2::lol2::lol2:

Dougie is 8 pounds but I want him to go outside because even if we have pre pads I don't want my house smelling like my dogs potty
