Chip now knows how to sit, stay, up, down, come, and shake. I just realized today that he knows shake. Now I'm starting to teach him crawl. I'm so proud because he's only 16 weeks old and has never stepped a paw into puppy class!

Great! How did you train him? I have just started trying to train Snow. She's kept me busy with potty training and walking on a leash. :tongue4: We still have quite mastered those yet but she's doing better.

That's terrific! I have found my Yorkie is so eager to learn new tricks. I am working on the sit pretty command/hand signal right now with mine!
You should be very proud of yourself and your little Chip.........you have accomplished quite a bit with the little guy!!! We could use some updated pictures of him, please!

As soon as I find our camera I will try to take a video of him shaking. It's so unbelievabley cute to see his little paw. It's cute when a big dog, like my golden does it, but it's sooooooo much cuter when a dog that little does it.
Like I said, when I find my camera again, I will take pics. I know it's on the floor mixed in with some clothes somewhere, but I'm currently gimped up cause I just had knee surgery on Thursday and can't get down to well. I should be able to look for it soon!

I found the best way is making them do it over and over again. Like for example, when I was teaching Chip shake, I had a treat in my left hand, showed it to him, grabbed his paw while saying shake at the same time then (still holding his paw) I say "good shake, good shake" and give him the treat with my left hand. I did this a good 20 times and he didn't willingly give me his paw. Always end on a good note though.
For sit, you can do one of two things and both work. You can show them the treat then push their lil butt down while saying sit, then give them the treat OR you can put the treat a little above their head and a little behind that way while they are following it with their eyes, they have to sit just to see it. Of course you say sit as you are doing this, then give them the treat once they've done that.
For lay, we make him sit first, then put the treat (with our finger still on it) on the floor out of his reach to just grab it in that position and take our other hand and move his front legs to the ground while saying down, then give him the treat.
For stay and come, I don't know how he started to understand, but he did. lol Potty training is one we are definately still working on though! If you have ANY tips that would be great! He hasn't been too bad on a leash... when it's just me. For some reason when Adam is with me or there are other people around he becomes a little miscreant, but when it's me he'll stay maybe a couple Chip steps ahead of me or behind me.

I'm here guys! Sorry! I haven't posted hardly at all cause I got a a second job and my only free time is spent with Adam, Chip, and my pillow.
Chip is doing really well. He actually hurt his paw about 3-4 weeks ago and is still healing. All of his front teeth have fallen out and new ones have come in. He is 6.3 lbs now and we think he is fully grown. We discovered that he does quite well with nail trimming and he met my grandparents for the first time! For my birthday they bought Chip a new crate and cushion that he loves. A couple weeks ago we took him for his last series of shots and he had a reaction to the lymes! He has never had reactions to any shot before, but maybe he wasn't feeling well to begin with... I don't know. He has his last lymes shot next friday then he won't need any more for another year! The other day he had 4 ticks on him! Right now he's going pyscho with his ziggy and rolling around on the bed.
I will try to come on here as much as possible, but don't get upset with me if I don't show up for a bit!
