I hope this works. I always have a hard time equalizing his beard with his ears. When he has his ears down it looks equal, then he puts them up and the ears look shorter then the beard. We did the bathing and paw pads today and nail clipping. And trying to equalize beard and ears.

I have to ask, What is with this new look with there hair cut. I am wondering why you shave the body so short and keep the legs, tail, and head long ??. I am guessing it is so they can wear clothes without getting mats.
I think you have done a wonderful job, and he has such a beautiful face. I am not sure about the style of cut, I haven't seen it before and will need to get used it.
How many others have this cut, it must be a new style in the US.

Your Alex is one handsome young man :D

OK, well if that style has hit scotland, Aussie musn't be to far away. I think it looks unusal and probably something that would grow on me. Honestly your babies could look good with any style Elaine.

Have never seen that style by me but it is cute. Jack's hair will never get that long to try it, but I do love to see it on other dogs.

The first time I saw that style was in Las Vegas at the 2000 Maltese Specialty Show and I loved it. When I came back I asked the groomer to do that cut on Alex. I explained what I wanted and she said, yes, yes I know what you want. Guess what, when I picked him up it was far from what I wanted. So after that, I started to do Alex myself. The beard should be shorter. But I am having a hard time with equalizing the ears and beard.

Oh My Gosh, He is adorable. I just love his new doo! I bet he struts around like "Hey, Look at me." I know when I came home with Bella's new cut she thought her poop didn't stink~~ LOL.

Great Job!

Anybody got any ideas of what I can get to use on Bella's tear-stained and food stained face?? Don't know what to use to get it white.

Thanks,
Becky, Bella's mom:)

Alex never had a food stained face. But for a while he had very bad tear staining. How old is Bella ? The tear staining got so bad that I finally resorted to give him Panamycin drops. It does not stop the tearing. It just keeps the hair from getting red. The antibiotic changes the chemical balance of the tears and so they don't stain the hair.

Thank you so much for the reply! I will check with my vet on that, I guess you get it from the vet, do you?? I had also read at one time about a paste you can order that is good also, any comments on that?

Thank you Jane! Oh, Bella will be 9 months on June 2nd.

I would wait that Bella is one year old and all the teeths are in. Panamycin drops is tetracycline and if given too early it stains the teeth. You need a prescription from the vet to get it.

Alex is so cute especially his 1st pic. Yes I have seen this kind of cut on yorkie but not yet on maltese. It looks like schnauzer cut style. You do great jon on Alex. :clapsm:

Wow, great job!! I think it would be called a snauzer or cocker spaniel cut. Jane, what blade did you use on the body?

Getting the beard and ears right is always tough for me also, esp when they won't hold their heads right when you are cutting!

He is a very cute baby. I think you done alright cutting his beard.
Like Bek am not sure about the cut. He looks just like a poodle. LOL. I have started to see the cut more and more on some forums. I suppose it just takes a little getting used to.

THAT was the cut I was going for on Mr Wookie, and instead he came out looking like he was in a paper shreader. :(
I asked another groomer and she suggested it is called either a "Cafe Cut" or "Continental Cut".

Good luck!
Melanie
