The Birth Of Maltese

I thought that everyone may enjoy the arrival of baby Maltese. I hope to have my daughter home while the babies are born (she is not laboring yet, so hopefully Rhonda will be home from school). I have already spoke with her concerning snapping pictures during the actual delivery of the babies. I felt like it could give everyone a chance to see the process of which there baby is born, unless mom had to have a c-section.

I am attaching a file to this post to show everyone what the birthing supplies are and the whelping box. Which is a child's wading pool. The pool is the best thing that I have found to raise the babies until they are big enough to climb out. It is easily cleaned and sanitized. Which is very important for the babies.

I hope that this gives everyone a different outlook to there baby and can bring them even closer to them, by understanding the birthing process.

Please say an extra prayer for a healthy delivery of the babies and mom does OK. Thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone. No babies yet, but mom is getting a little winy. Rhonda is home from school and if we are blessed tonight she will be taking pictures for everyone. And if it is while she is in school I will do my very best to try and snap a couple for everyone. I am excited for all of you to be able to share in the birth. It is such a blessed occurrence.

Nope not yet, :dizzy: still waiting mom is acting normal. So maybe tomorrow. With the way she is acting I really do not expect them tonight. But...........that is normally the way they do, wait until bed time or the middle of the night. :asleep:

Well...............................No babies yet. I checked my records and mom had her first and only litter on day 65. So now all I can do is a sit and wait.

Just a little update. Mom is in very early labor. She is not pushing yet, but wanting to be with me and stay in her kennel. If it gets pretty hectic my daughter will be posting for me. Her name is Rhonda. Please say a extra prayer for mom, babies and me........

At 4:30 this morning Zoley gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. Both mom and baby are doing well. He was nursing within 15 min of birth. Which is a very good sign of a healthy baby. I did not have to lead him mom's nipple, he found it on his own. Mom has given me a big surprise though, she had gained so much weight I thought she may have 2 or 3 babies. I am attaching a small slide show of the birth. Well as much as I could get, Rhonda has school today and needed her rest so I was trying to snap pictures, while doing the birthing thing. I guess that I can do more than one thing at a time. :hearter:

Please be ware that the first picture is when the baby was just coming into the world and he was still in his sac of water.

He is beautiful and there is nothing no sweeter than hearing his first little squeak.

Normally her belly will only have 1 knot in it when done. The knot feels like a golf ball. And it is her uterus (sp). And with-in a couple of hours it will go down. There is a huge change in the way her pre-whelp belly fells opposed to the post-whelp.

Was the first picture to graphic? I was kinda concerned but wanted everyone to actually see what the baby is in while in mom's belly. If you will look closely at the first picture you will be able to see the puppy's tail. He was breech.

His weight at birth was 3.4 oz. Not to small, but not big either. I am actually surprised that he was not heavier with him being the only baby. He is nursing well and mom is doing great. I have them both under the heating lamp, which is nothing but a 3 tear lamp with bending arms.

I love those ears and nose myself. I have really enjoyed being able to share this wonderful experience with all of you. :heart5:

Just a little update. Baby boy and mom are doing wonderful. He is a mama's boy though. When ever mom is not right with him he cries like he is starving or has a belly ache. I know that is neither though, because when mom is with him he is perfectly happy. It is so funny how little boy's are more of ninny poo's than little girl's.

Just a little update...The baby is doing fine today. Mom is being a brat, but other than that all is well.
