Chloe had the worst day yesterday :(

First she had to go to the vet and get shots. She moped around all day after that, the site of the shot swelled and she was very sore at her neck and front leg because they also took blood. She just layed around all day. Then my husband went to bed early and I put Chloe on the bed with him. A little bit later, I heard a huge yelp and she came running out of the bedroom. Well my husband is not sure what he did since he did it while sleeping, he thought he pushed her off the bed, she seemed fine so I didn't worry too much about it. This morning, I wake up and open my eyes and realize Chloe is not up licking my face??? I immediately think where is she??? I look at the end of the bed and she is just laying there looking at me. I get up to go look at her and then she jumps off the bed and heads for the back door like ususal. SO I think ok, she's just being wierd. I let all the dogs out to potty, come back 2 minutes later and open the door, 2 dogs run in, but not Chloe. I look outside and she is way out in the yard just laying there in the grass. I ran out to her and she is just shaking. I pick her up and she freaks out in pain. SO I put her down and feel all over for where she could possibly be hurting and find a HUGE lump on the back of her body in front of her back leg. So my husband definately kicked her VERY hard to produce this lump (on accident of course, he feels just awful). We took her to the vet and she does not have any broken bones (I was worried about her ribs), she's just very sore.

Tonight she is eating, and has quit shaking, she is even being a little playful, let's hope tomorrow will be better.

So many people advise against letting maltese live in homes with small children, we should be more worried about our 200 pound husbands!! :o

I am so very sorry. I know it must hurt both of you more than Chloe. I get a sick feeling deep down whenever our fur kids are sick or get hurt. Lots of TLC and let her watch all the Animal Planet she wants.

I'm so sorry about Chloe! I know how bad your husband must feel about it. :(

I'm sure he is a great Daddy to Chloe and would never intentionally do anything to harm her, thank goodness she doesn't have any broken bones. Did the vet say she should be okay after the bump goes away? We'll be thinking about her! :)

Thanks everyone! I'm sorry I didn't post this earlier today. Chloe is in much better spirits today. She is more active and eating. Not quite herself, but soooo much better than yesterday. The lump has gone down a little, but still tender. She got lots of spoiling today, we may regret it when she's all better :p , but she deserves it. It just broke my heart to see her in so much pain, I hope we never have another incident. I don't think my nerves can handle it. It really scared me.

Thanks for the update, Jodi! Accidents are just the worst! Yay for getting spoiled and being treated like the little princess she is. She'll bounce back in no time at all! :)

I'm glad Chloe is feeling better. I also have a 6 foot 200 pound hubbie. That one reason why the puppies can not sleep with us. Chester like to sleep very close to him. on time my husband moved his leg and it was ontop of poor chester .. chester did not make a peep. lucky I was still awake watching tv. I quicly woke him up and pulled chester out. it would be great if the puppies would stay in there bed at the bottom of our on the bench but the like to crawl up when we are sleeping. That's why they can't sleep with us. We are very scard they will get squashed.

I believe this is actually what happened to Chloe, I think my husband slammed his foot down on top of her, by the way the knot is. She still has a small knot. Now she sleeps with our golden retriever on the floor, I can't get her to stay on the bed, it's probably for the better, but it makes me feel so bad. I tried to let my yorkie sleep in our bed one time but she insisted on being underneath our covers and very close, I woke up after a few hours and put her in her crate because I was scared I would squish her. She seems to really like it in her crate anyways.

Yep our yorkie chester does that too any little space near us that were he wants to sleep. He also now sleep in his crate too. He loves his crate so it ok.
chelsey on the other hand is not bad with sleeping in the bed. I'm just worried she will get swashed by my hubbie.
I'm glad your puppy is ok. Poor thing.

Jodi,
I have been meaning to ask how that little Chloe is doing after the run in with daddy's foot? I hope she has fully recovered. :p

It has taken so long for that lump to go away. I was about to take her in again to have it checked, but it now seems to be almost diminished, with just a slight lump now. She did sleep on the bed for the first time again last night, she must have forgiven my husband a little. :p
