Should I Cut Kallie's Hair????

Ok, most of you know how much I LOVE LONG LUCH HAIR on my pups BUT I have noticed that they are trying to lay close to one another and get cozy. It only last a short while, as Kallie get soooooooo hot. I am wondering if I should give her a cut so that she might enjoy life better and play more with Toby! Toby can stay long as he has a thin coat. I am so tempted and just thought I would get your opinions.

Carol, I voted to cut "just a little bit shorter." I know how much you love the long hair on Kallie, she looks so gorgeous in it. But if you feel she's suffering because of the heat, maybe you should just trim it a bit. Not all of it but maybe just enough to give her a little relief. I know she's indoors most of the time and drinks a lot of fluids, but if she lays with Toby and plays with him, I'm sure that extra bit of warmth adds a little bit to her discomfort. But, that is totally your call.

You may find even with short hair that she will still only lay with Toby for a short while! The Long hair in the summer actually keeps them cooler!

NO really. HONEST~ I was thinking that maybe she would feel better and play harder and sleep closer to Toby if she didn't get so hot! But then the expert, E, told me she would be cooler in a longer coat and that's all I needed to hear to be convinced but then Sarah with her very extensive NO and Bek with her no; well, it was set, no cut for Kallie!:D

Carol this is my experience with mine before and after their cuts. They all came to life like they had a ton of weight off of them. I did not want to cut there coats either. But I have not regretted it one bit now that I finally did. I just put myself in there shoes and thought about the endless brushing and then low and behold if they had a mat. But it is all up to you and your better half........lol.. I just wanted to be serious for just a minute.....And give you a little food for thought.

Thanks for your thoughts......I really appreciate them and I know you are being sincere. I know the hair must weigh a ton since she is bigger than most maltese, but she is so beautiful in her full coat! I don't know if I would recognize her in a shorter cut! She is really good about bathing and the brushing and blowing out.........couldn't ask for a better gal to work on! Toby too, he's wonderful to work with for grooming. Hubby loves her in the long coat and the long coat of the maltese is what really made him decide on that breed! So for now, she will stay long! But again thanks for your thoughts!

i think kallie looks great in her long coat!
i applaud you for having it so nice and pretty...

its such a hard task, i dont care what anyone says but it is super duper hard to keep a dog in a long coat (i know, and i gave up)
