Littermates

Does anyone own two (or more) Maltese littermates? Last night I stayed at my friend's house who has littermates and they are just so mean to my Yorkie. They are very unaccepting of him. He is very well-behaved and doesn't bother them much. Do you think it has something to do wtih them being littermates? Are they less likely to be accepting of another "outsider"?

Could it be that they have had little exposure to other dogs? My first maltese was very spoiled and I didn't know anyone else with dogs, so she had very little exposure to them if at all, in fact she was so spoiled she didn't know she was a dog, seriously. So when I met my husband and we moved in together, he had a dog and she hated that dog!! She wanted nothing to do with her and would bite and growl if she bugged her. Also she was not very playful and my husband's dog was, so she was always annoyed by it. It is very important to socialize a maltese.
