What kind of training treats does everyone use? Right now I am using Bil Jac liver treats. My yorkie Calvin has always used them but I am thinking there might be a dye in them.
So what brand do you use? :maltese8:

We use natural treats like cut up pieces of peeled, green apple, watermelon, pieces of carrot...The furbabies go nuts over this stuff :)
I just keep them in a little sandwich bag cut up and ready to go.

They like watermelon? I haven't tried that yet. Mia likes every fruit I've given to her so far except Honey Dew Melon...Cody is more picky when it comes to fruit.
My babies love these little treats - http://www.healthypetfoodsinc.com/treatumms.cfm

Oh yeah, they love watermelon(seedless) :) Miko is very picky too. He won't eat red apples, only green, but Emma will eat just about anything. LOL I haven't tried to give them Honey Dew Melon yet.

I use the Bil Jac liver treats too, as well as these little ones called Train Me. She also liked these crackery ones that Cheryl gave me to try, but I haven't been to the store where they sell them, and I don't even know their name. (That one is not a lot of help) :)

I use Cheerios. They love them and they have no dyes that can stain the coat. Plus they can gobble them down with one bite and get back to the lesson.
melons, korean bae pear its really yummy, seedless grapes, apples, carrots, frozen peas, diced up boiled chicken, bologni *sp?*
those are trainning treats :lol2: but... this is the sad part
i dont train my dogs... i just give it as a snack :( im so bad
my brother sister and boyfriend are the ones who train them...
so far... donbi is excellant :) dueci only knows the commands sit and dance and daeroni just knows one command "stand" ~ :lol2:

I have noticed I can't give Nemo too many treats cause he poops so much, so I give him maybe one a day. I love the Wellness ones he does also..
And he poops with Cheerios to, does yours if you feed it as a snack?

Kallie and Toby both get treats every day. Cheese for pooping and animal crackers for peeing and my waffles if they are really really good! But you do have to watch for any changes in their poo to make sure they are not having changes in their stools. I've also used the "rolls" from Natural balance in their gongs when I leave or cooked chicken. Keeps them busy for hours.:D :D

My puppy doesn't seem to like a lot of treats except for frosted flakes and cold cuts which probably isn't good. I've only gotten him to sit sometimes so far. Now whenever he sees anyone eating he'll sit at their feet and stare instead of jumping up like he used to.

Thanks for having me. I tried the cheerios and they liked it but I accidently dropped peas on the floor and they went nuts attacking them like they never had a meal before. I decided to try it during training and darned it they don't do flips for them. Chicken even takes a back seat. STRANGE DOGS:)

Never tried the peas because they are not on "my" list of favorite veggies but I'm thinking I'll give the kids a try with the peas........sounds like a great idea, thanks!!!!!

Pip loves peas, too. Fresh ones from the garden. He brings a pod in, drops it at my feet and sits (howzat for dog training?) THEN he expects me to take them out of the pod and feed them to him (howzat for Mum training?). ;)
I use home-cooked liver for treats, sometimes. I chop it into small pieces then cook it slowly on a baking tray until it goes very hard. It keeps for at least a week in an airtight tin. Both dogs love it and I know exactly what's in it - just liver :D

I made a nice soup the other night and gave Nemo some carrots. The problem with Nemo is everytime I give him people food like carrots he gets the runs:o I mean it's not diarrhea but did you ever look after their poop and there is like 101 poops:blush: it's so gross, thats what happens to him so I have to be careful to just give human food every so often..

All of mine have the same problem with people food unless I get them started on it slowly and give it to them regularly like the steak and chicken I give it with their kibbles. I gave them some pumpkin the other day for loose stools and little did I know that Kallie went around to all the bowls and ate it all? .............well, you can only imagine, it made her stools more loose and she pooped as if it was pure pumpkin (same consistency and color)so I know now to watch when I give them pumpkin that one hog does not eat it all!:lol2: :lol2:
