After several attempts to reach this breeder, this is her response to not repaying me the money she owes me. She has had my money for over 1 year now. SHAME ON CHRISTY ELLINGTON!

BEWARE OF THIS LOUISIANNA BREEDER :mad:

I know that I owe you money and I have ever intention of giving you a full refund, but right now money is really tight. At the end of June I will be selling 2 litters of puppies and also have some tax money coming, but until then I will just have to send what I can when I can. I’m sorry for this, but I just really don’t have it to pay you right now. I have decided to make no promises until I sell these puppies because I just don’t know what money I will have until then. If I do get some money sooner then that then I will send you some.

I had told you I’d have you paid by the end of May because I had two litters of puppies that I would have sold in mid-May, but they were exposed to Parvo by another breeder’s dog that was supposed to have had all it’s shots. I ended up loosing both litters of puppies after paying large vet bills to try and save the puppies. Again, I’m sorry but this is all I can do right now.

She is not a reputable breeder and I don't know your story, do you have a pup from her or did something happen? I know how hard it is, people need to research before they buy a pup.I would rather loose my deposit if I found out the breeder wasnt reputable then go ahead and take the puppy.
People need to read these forums and understand the difference. I have learned alot on another GREAT forum and I learn here also.Im sorry this is happening to you, but thanks for posting about it..

Here is a link to the AKC Suspension list. I feel as though it is a good was to start. Especially when someone says that the puppies are not registered. The list also gives you the reason that AKC has Suspended the breeder. But on the bad side if a puppymill or brb is keeping the dogs as AKC requires they will not be suspended. And this woman was NOT on the list.

I forgot to add something in my previous post. I went to the website that Andrea posted and it seems to me to be the same person. The first impression that I got was she has 5 different breeds and out of the 5, 3 were mix breeds. Then I went to the new arrivals link and she had pups available in the mix breeds but no pure bred dogs. So that tells me one thing. SHE IS NOT A REPUTABLE BREEDER WITH THE BETTERMENT OF THE BREED I MIND.

Sorry you are having such trouble.........getting and dealing with a good breeder is so important. Hope all works out for you. YES, I think it a great idea to post some breeders that some have personally dealt with or know to help new "want a be" maltese lovers obtain a quality pet!!

i am sooo glad i joined this forum. i only wish i knew how to get my $1000 back. christy ellington needs to be exposed for her unethical practices. she's taken my money, purchased a pug from a puppy mill that died after giving parvo to some of her pups - and she is STILL selling remaing litters that may have been exposed to it.
i never got a pup (thank goodness) and still haven't gotten my money back either. if i could only stop crying over this - i don't have $1000 to just GIVE away. :mad:

If you charged the $1,000 to a credit card, you could have went through your credit card company and disputed the transaction........but I think it is too long but maybe worth a try. If you paid cash, guess you will just have to stay on her to get it back. Report her to her local "better business bureau" as well, the AKC and exactly how did you find this breeder????

Have you seen a Lawyer? If you havent I would, there are places you can go to report her:mad: I can imagine how mad u are.Report her and let everyone know of her, get the word out...http://www.ftc.gov/

i found her on the internet. her mother-in-law has a site too and they sell pups together. i made all payments by online bank check so i can prove payment. i have reported her to the fcc. i gave her until this thursday to fork over my money before i go to the better business bureau. can't afford an attorney but i am going to do small claims for help though. believe it or not, her mother-in-law suggested that i borrow the $1000 from someone if i needed it so badly. can you believe that? she is making excuses for christy and then wants me to stay calm because christy is having hard times and can't pay me. WHY CAN'T THEY BORROW THE MONEY TO PAY ME BACK? :confused:

I am sorry to say but I may have a bit more bad news. Did you get a receipt? Or did you sign a contract? Breeders such as this prey on the innocent and are like vultures. If you did not get a receipt with it stating exactly what the money was for you may not be able to get it back in court. Another thing is if you signed a contract, it is a good possibility that there is clause in it about not giving cash refunds. I hope in your case that neither of the above statements are true. It is sad that there are so many people this day and time that do not live by the golden rule " Do unto other's as you would want to be done unto". I think that is how it goes. I know it is not word for word, but hey what can I say......

The monies were for a FUTURE pup. She didn't have any pups at the time so we agreed thru emails that I'd make installment payments towards her Spring litter for a female pup and if one wasn't born she'd refund all money. As it was, only males came from that litter so she said she'd send me the money by May 31. But like my first email states, days went by and nothing. She finally responded on the last day saying she didn't have the money. I kept all the emails. So this was technically not a deposit for a pup she had right then but installments so that the pup would be paid-in-full when it was born in the Spring so that I wouldn't be caught off guard with not enough money when the pup was finally born. I KEPT MY PROMISE TO HER AND SHE CHEATED ME. Her last emails say...

All I can say is I really hope you get your money back, I know it will be a hard road ahead. Maybe she will get scared enough and think it's all not worth it and just give it back to you. Either way thanks for posting so others know..

On her review that you left, you may want to check it every couple of days because she can go in and erase it. If it were me as soon as she erased it I would put another one in its place.

WHAT? I didn't know that. I will keep an eye out. I have never been so determined to expose wrong doing. If she is continuing to advertise her pups, buyers should know the risk they are taking with her. I want my refund ASAP!

thank you for responding. well, i STILL haven't received a dime although i am aware that christy has sold several puggle pups on puppyfind. she also didnot respond to the better business bureau complaint i filed but through the grapevine i hear she is less concerned with bbb or any other complaint venue since she is not an member of any akc club or bbb. i have really been saddened by all of this.

It is people like this that give reputable breeders a bad name . It is really saddening that so called breeders act in any such a manner. I am so sorry that you have had to deal with this.

This is so sad. I think your last recourse is the small court claims. And getting the word out. We should not only put a good breeders list on the forums but also a bad breeders list.

I too was a victim of this woman. I purchased a small pom. from her and she said a bird carried it off while outside. I didnt think much on this and she said she would refund my money. Well i had to claim a paypal dispute against her. I got i think 500 back. thank goodness cause I hear everyone else has gotten none. The other 300 she didnt return. I kept on her and she then sent me three post dated checks. I put the checks in on those days and two bounced and charged me extra for each one. So now she owed me 400 to cover the money owed and the cost of the checks bounced. Now this has been a year since this and I dont plan on getting the rest back, but I have filed just about everything I can on this breeder with no luck. I havent taken her to small claims cause it would cost me more then what is owe to fight it, but I hear she is still at it. I still have and open dispute with this lady through paypal and they say whenever she puts money in it will come my way, but now she is taking money through her mother in laws paypal cause a friend of mine emailed pretending to want a puppy. I have brought this to paypals attention and they say sorry. I think they shoudl be able to close her mother in laws account down to protect others. Anyways, my man thing is i try to go on everyday and find websites and let people know what a scam she is and how sad of a person she has to be to do this... I am a strond believer in KARMA though so one day she will see what it is like.

I know this is a very old thread also. But the last posted posted something that I have not seen before.

ASHLEYSMOM have you considered taking those checks to the district attorney and pressing charges. I am not sure what the amount has to be for them to be a felony, but maybe if you can get charges up against this woman she will be more up to pay the debt. Just a thought.

just 2 update you... christy ellington has done the SAME to me. her 6 post-dated checks bounced (all but 1). she orig owed me $1,000 and i got 2 money orders that i deposited. i'd contacted DETECTIVE SUDDUTH in her district and he helped me get what i did finally got back. christy AND her mother-in-law should be ashamed. i can tell you that i have SURELY learned my lesson - NO MORE OUT OF STATE BREEDERS for me.
it has been OVER 1 year and i am out half the money i sent to her. she IS A CROOK and that's that. i wonder just how many of us are out here?
i am looking to hopefully purchase a female pup by the end of summer but sadly their are few maltese breeders here in NC so i will probably have to drive a distance.

THANX for UR reply. DETECTIVE SUDDUTH in LA DID present my issue to the state's attry and was told that it's a civil matter. the assumption was that i was the only one she deceived so... i wish i knew of others so that we could ALL pounce her at once in court.

would this be possible? i am sooo anxious to purchase a new precious baby girl maltese puppy but i am sooo much more scared to run into another breeder like CHRISTY and NOLA ELLINGTON. :wink5:

i have searched long and hard to find postings from others that may have been scammed by either of these breeders but this is all i have found. i had hoped that others would not be embarrassed by these breeders and post complaints so that buyers could beware. i want everyone to know and beware!!
