View Full Version : Doggy tent!!

I saw a thread on YT where someone had bought a children's tent for their dogs and turned it into a "potty tent." I thought that was such a brillant idea because mine will often be on the pad but will actually miss the pad when going, you could say they have bad aim,lol.:lol2: So the tent would actually stop it from happening so that you wouldn't have a mess on the carpet.
So I went to Target but they didn't have many children's tents to choose from and their were all a little on the big side. So I happened to look in the dog section and they have a tent just for dogs!!
I set it up and at first the dogs wanted to play in it and lay in it, go figure.
But after I put the pad in it they knew what it was for!! So now they are going in the tent all the time and using the pad in there, so now more accidents or misses on the carpet!!:D I am so glad I got this, I just wish I had gotten it sooner!!
Of course now I feel a little guilty that they wanted to play in at first so I am going to go back and buy another one just for them to play in and sleep in and it will have blankets, beds and toys in it instead of the pads like the other one will always have!!

So for those of you that have malts or other dogs that are pad trained, this is a great idea to consider!!

Well, mine are outside trained but I would love to see pictures too.:D

The tent is 32 inches high, 42 inches long and 28 inches wide.
It has a front door that has two flaps on it, one is a screen the other is a cover. I just keep the door open all the time. It also has mesh windows on each side also with a cover you can roll up if you want. Oh and it comes with stakes too if you want to use it outside. The dogs really seem to like it and it has helped with their training so much.
It is light weight but still pretty sturdy. It only came in one color, a neutral color. I would have liked to see it come in a pink or blue but the neutral color works too.

I can't wait to get another one, I will put blankets, toys and beds and there and it will be there own special place. I think they like so well because it has that cozy den feeling for them.

Here are a couple pictures of it.
Destiny is checking it out in the one picture.

Mine go outside in the warmer months but when winter comes or it is raining, they use the pad. Last winter the snow was so deep that even my cocker spaniel had a hard time getting outside because it was over her head!! There is no way my yorkies and maltese could go out when it is that deep or that cold.
But I do love it in the summer, it is so easy to just take them outside to go to the bathroom!!

Thanks for the pics! Doesn't pee get on the inside of the tent at all? What happens if it does? Is the whole tent washable? (:scratchhd: picturing how a tent would look in my living room... :lol2: )

Can I ask you how much it was???? :D I didn't see any at my Target.... :( I wonder if they sell them online....

The tent was $24.99. I put one large pad and one small pad in the tent and it pretty much covers the whole floor of the tent so no pee ever gets on the tent floor. But the tent floor is made of like a tarp material and is water repellent so if they did pee on it, you would just wipe it clean. The tent itself I don't think is washable, I mean I am sure you could wash it by hand but I wouldn't put it in the washer. I plan on decorating the tent eventually to make it look not as plain.

They do not have the tent that I got listed online at Target but they do have the children's tent a couple other dog tents.
Here are a couple other tents....

If you go to www.target.com, you can go into the children's camping and they have a variety of cute tents to choose from.

Pictured below is the tents I saw on YT that were used as Potty tents. I wanted one these ones but when I got to target they didn't have any and I needed one right away and didn't want to wait on it to be shipped so I found the tent that I have now otherwise I would have gotten one of these. But I do want to get one of these later for them to play/sleep in.

I think we all should buy the tents and go camp out at jazzysmom's new house down in Hot Springs!!!! That would be a great marketing strategy for an ad!!!
Hundreds of little dogs camping out (Kallie can bunk with Jack):D and all the moms could be having a great gab fest.

See I knew some one would go with my suggestion!!!!! Isn't her yard/land great! If I put a tent in the middle of my family room my hubby will then have evidence to prove I was nuts! But their room is not off limits....I wonder if I can get his and hers??????

Are you talking about his and hers for you and hubby or for the pups:lol2: :lol2:
And my son just informed me that no way is Jack getting a tent!!!!
I said they could camp out together in his bedroom, you know, tell scary stories, make smores, roast hot dogs, sing songs around the camp fire.....but he just shakes his head and walks away.......what? I don't see anything wrong with that:D

I hope you didn't mention roasting hot "dogs" in front of Jack!!!:lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Don't worry my son would do the same thing....for some reason he thinks I go a little over top with my babies....I don't see a thing wrong with: their own room, dressers, all their matching clothes, jewelry boxes, 7 beds, 2 sets of doggie stairs, a stroller, a front pack, 5 carrying bags and dog toys all over the house and that I leave animal planet on for them during the day! :scratchhd: :scratchhd: :sidesplit: :sidesplit:

Good gosh, you are crazy aren't you girl:lol2:
No wonder Jack gave me that look when I said roast hot dogs!!
Jack doesn't have his own room, the whole house is his room, I'm only allowed a few dress up things, no stroller, 1 carry bag and he does have about a dozen toys (all of which are coming on the road trip to Colorado), 2 beds (which are coming on the trip), and I do have you beat with the doggie stairs...we have 4!!!! (only one will be coming on the trip). I have the 'child lock' set on the tv controller because if Jack puts Animal Planet on he gets these crazy ideas of bad things to do in the house.

Don't feel bad, neither do I. My youngest son got married in May 2004 and they don't really want to have kids. My grandchild is their boxer Champ.

Now, what the heck did that have to do with tents?:lol2: :lol2:

I personally like the one you found, the other ones have that flap at the front that they have to jump over to get in. Yours, well they can just walk in, much better Idea.
The one you got is great, unfortantly we don't have them in Aussie, or I for sure would get one as a bed/ toys tent.

So, I went to Target and looked at the tents. That one was too big for the space I have so I kept looking and went over the the cat aisle. I found this thingy. It is a cat tent which you can hook pieces together but it is great for a potty tent! It is smaller but the dogs still fit in it fine.

I even left the used potty pad inside to show you that at least one of mine is starting to use it! :D

It was only $9.99.

Our doggies watch PBS during the day if we are out. hehehe

That tent is great, I will have to check to see if our Target is carrying them. We have a tent it's made by Daba Doo and is Leopard Print. I will try to get a photo of it if anyone wants to see it.
I had never thought of making it a potty tent though, that is a great idea, but not for this tent.
Thanks for sharing,
Melanie

Not exactly a "Potty Tent" is it?
