I kinda asked the poll question wrong...
It should just be IS your dog......
Is your dog(s) (Malts or Yorkies)TOTALLY potty trained? If they are, tell how old they are now, please.

Soooo, mine are not. I thought we were getting there but maybe not.
Of course Myla is still learning cause she's a pup. Brea is too.
I have discovered that someone peed on my bed. (YUCK) I don't know who it is cause 3 of them sleep with me. So, after doing extensive cleaning and laundering yesterday, I decided to just have one or two sleep with me till this gets figured out.
Last night I put Tinka in a crate in my room and it was SO hard cause she is always right there on the pillow next to me by my head. I have a feeling she might be the culprit cause she really loves to mark her territory. :( I had even put stuff (extra dog blankets) down on that side of the bed just in case, but I guess it went through.... :(

Teddy is 2 and he is completely potty trained, but it took a full year before we didn't have accidents. Now he gives us a look when he needs to go out and runs to the door and back to me to get my attention. The only time we have some issues is if people come over - we tell people to ignore him when they come in because he gets so excited sometimes he will "sprinkle." It is like a shower of happiness to see new people. Ohhh and he is territorial. My grandmom "inherited" an African Gray parrot and it has a huge cage, and when I bring Teddy there he will pee on the cage!! Yes, he walks to the cage, lifts his leg, and marks his territory. I have to keep him out of that room! My vet told me to expect a full year for a small dog to be completely trained.

I have an African Gray, too. Her name is Cleopatra. Luckily my girls don't bother her too much...
Sounds like you and Teddy are doing great with pottying! :)

When we got Jack from the shelter at 4 1/2 months he had been with a foster mom and all her dogs, so he was learning from them when to go out. But, Jack does not bark to let us know he has to go. We use the 'bell' system for that. We have a bell hooked up to a gate that separates the kitchen from the utility room where the back door is. He rings the bell and he goes out. He picked up on that real fast.
Jack only had (knock on wood) 3-4 accidents in the house in the first 2 months we had him. He can go a long time in the house without having to go out. So, I'd say that by the time he was 7 months old he was trained.
Jack just turned 1 yr old at the end of May, so he is doing very well.

Nemo was potty trained at 3 months and was neutered at almost 7 months. You know when he started marking, when I picked him up after his neutering he came home looked at me lifted his leg and peed all over my kitchen chair:confused:  I was soooooooooo confused , but thats what happened..Now he does mark here and there not alot but he does it, I have just accepted it and it's not bad I dont have carpet (THANK GOD) so I just keep cleaning it...he knows it's wrong cause when I catch him his ears go back and he looks at me, I have tried everything but like I said it's once in awhile not alot..

Sammy Maree and Max were toilet trained by 6mths, but when I got Ernie, because of his issues, I stopped letting them upstairs. Now that Ernie isn't with us I let Sammy and Max back upstairs. 1st time Sammy did a poo in one of the rooms and Max peed on my lounge room floor. So now I watch them all the time, I am sure they will get used to being upstairs again, it isn't their fault, they are just confused.
So I would have to say 90% because of that accident, but they will be 100% again in no time :D

This is a 2 part answer....Mia was 90% potty trained until Cody came along. She has regressed since he has been here.....Cody will pee & poop outside but you can't pet him or really talk to him first thing in the morning unless he goes out first...if you do you will get pee on your pants or feet. Mia will go outside to pee & poop.....but she also....will also pee & poop on my hubby's side of the bed on the area rug. Neither will warn me that they have to go. I have a bell on the door and they just look at it. When the bedroom door opens though Cody will sit right in front of the door.:D So yes for Cody and now no for Mia.
By the way Bek how is Ernie doing?

Trixie (almost 2 years old) and Scampers (1 1/2 years old) are completely pad trained, they always go to the pad. Both of them have been trained since they were about 7 months old.
Destiny (1 1/2 years old) is about 98 percent pad trained, she only has accidents on an occasion.
Sugar and Candie at 9 months old are about 90 percent pad trained.
Brownie is the only one that is questionable. At the breeder's house he was pad and outdoor trained. But here he won't go on the pad in front of us. So we just put him in an expen with pads down and he will go on the pad. We have to put him in there a few times a day and as long as we do that he doesn't have any accidents.

He is doing GREAT Mate, thanks for asking. I am so happy with the decission we made for him, he is truely doing so great, and has had NO accidents with them (one on one makes a difference).
I feel very happy with where he is.

Mr Wookie never had issue one with pad training. Well until his little hormones started to flow. Then a few times he felt he wanted to "mark" but I was always right behind him reminding him "NO" and to "Potty on the pad" and we only had 4 boo-boos, thankfully.
Good luck!

Molly just recently became what i would consider fully potty trained at 9 months. She goes to the door and barks or walks to the door and puts her paw on it. She knows that is where she goes. I think just being very consistent in watching her and taking her out every 3 hours about really helped to get her learning that outside is where i go. We don't give any other option w/ puppy pads/towels, etc. She has an accident maybe once every 2 weeks (usually no. 2 and usually b/c i'm off doing something and not giving her attention at that moment).
