When can you take your puppie to get professionally groomed ?
She is up todate with shots, and has had the kennel cough vaccine.
She is 14 weeks old and has some tear stains on her face.

John, I groom my own dogs........so someone else will have to give you suggestions with where to take her. But as far as the tear stains go, she will have them for a while until she gets throught the baby teeth stage. It may or may not clear up on it's own. You could try adding some unfiltered apple cider vinegar to her water to help with the staining. Both of mine drink it and it has helped with the staining on my maltese. I use one teaspoon to a 1/2 gallon of water.

Thanks for the reply
I had just read a few threads on the ACV, I will try to get some soon.
It seems difficult to keep her clean, we have trained her to go outside to pee and she is having fun in the yard...although she doesnt like it when its wet !
Our last Dog was black and she didnt show anything....unlike cars
black is easier :)
When do the adult teeth come in ?
She is teething for sure......she loves to chew on anything in her path !

Are you having her spayed when she is at the 6 month range. Normally when the spay/neutor they will clean and pull any remaning adult teeth if you request it. JMHO

My vet told me 18 weeks because he gives the last puppy series shot at that age.

Don't be in a hurry for the grooming.
14 weeks seems too early to have ALL the shots.
Also don't give her the rabis shot too early or if she is onthe small side..the dose is the same for ALL size dogs and this also shld ONLY be given w/no other shots.
Tear stainning is to be expected w/teething. And maybe later too. For me the stainning is still a d#am@ problem.
You shld NOT give them anything for that (drugs)untill ALL the baby teeth are out and adult in.It may ruin the adult teeth.
This could be 8mo-1yr.
My vet said Holly was done teething at 8mo and 91/2 mo later a tooth fell out!
Welcome to you and your baby!!!!!!!!!:hearter:

Very good post. I have seen it take up to 10 months for the baby teeth to fall out. Then again some may not fall out on their own and they will need to be extracted by the vet. Tetracycline and things like that will turn the teeth yellow. I use a simple remedy of Bosh and Lomb Renu Multi and just wash their little faces morning and evening. It removes all of the protein buildup from the tears. I am having wonderful success with it.
About the rabies vaccination. I live in Florida and tell all of my adoptive families to wait just as long as the vet will let them to get it. I have seen one of my adult dogs and he is 7 lbs come down sick from it. So please be careful and do not let them vaccinate that baby two early.

Prancer took about 2 weeks to get back to normal. But he did. It just worries me when these dang vets try to over vaccinate these little dogs.

Andrea I could not have said that any better. The all mighty dollar is what most of the vets are out for. I have a very good vet myself. But it has taken me years for them to realise that I stay on top of things and will not over vaccinate or drug one of my dogs.

Well I too k her in yesterday for a meet and greet with the groomer.
She trimmed up under her peds and manicured her nails.Trimmed around her eyes so she can see and cleaned out some hair in her ears and that was about it.
She took it good until the ears but she was fine with it.
They showed us how to do some stuff too, I really want to do most of it ourseves anyways.
It was good to get her use to it and they didnt charge for anything...

John what you may want to do to get her used to you plucking the hair from the ears is do it a little every day. That way it is not so long and she learns to except it. You will notice I said except it.:D

Glad that all went well...........nice experiences make for great return visits to the groomer. I love grooming my kids myself, great relaxer for me and a chance to bond with each of them.
