Anyone get insurance for the FurKids ?
I am into week 3 and have spent a few hudred already, some of these plans cover annual exams and Vaccinations.....teeth cleaning and Spay Neuter and all types of stuff.
Lizzie has just had her rabies shot this week, just got her first ear infection and lord knows whats next....
When she had her shot they checked her ears and said there was allot of wax build up and they cleaned them and gave us some stuff to clean them
2 days later she was itching her ears off so we brought her back and they said she was at the beginning of an ear infection.
So here we are cleaning and putting drops in her ears....she really likes all the attention....NOT
She seems like she is going to be high maintanance....so we are thinking insurance may be good.
We are looking at PetFirst and Iamswellness....anyone have any experience with either of these ????

At your pets age it's probably a good idea to get insurance. Mine is too old for that, he is not insurable anymore.

When I did look into, there was no real point taking it out, as they had breed exclussions and that was pretty much everything a Maltese could get, so I didn't see the point. However I have heard that has now changed ( after I paid in full a Patella operation), so i may look into it again.

Thank you Maggie. I did not know the link but knew that they had it because of my puppy applications.

I've never had pet insurance with any of my dogs over the past 38 years and have never had any astronomical bills either. Routine maintenance is all I have ever had to deal with and I'm grateful for that. If you can afford it and it isn't too expensive then I think it may be a good thing to have. Just depends on the cost and the coverage.

With our first Maltese Max I wish we had taken out insurance. After his seizures started at a very young age, he was on meds all his life, every month I had 3 different meds to buy and all the operations he had and then the cancer at the end, it was bad.
With Jack, my son decided to have the insurance right away. He pays for it and we have used it.

Thanks for the reply , I guess you never know what can happen.
Sorry to hear about Max and his seizures,My last dog had them also but not really bad ones.
I guess its more common than I thought to have insurance.....

John...there are different premiums you can purchase...you don't have to get one that covers cancer. We just decided that getting it to cover Jack would make us feel better, so we pay alittle bit more.
