Hi everyone! We are back from Europe and we have a new member of our household....Molly!! Molly a mix (maltese/yorkie) that we found a couple of weeks ago and brought her home on July 21. She is a ton of fun and has a fantastic personality. She's a playful girl and likes to nip with those razor sharp teeth...OUCH! Any tips on how to stop her nipping us when we are playing?
2nd question...How to keep the tear tracts clean? Her coloring is definitely more maltese than yorkie so her face is a lovely white. Her coat is short right now, she was given a puppy cut right before we brought her and her whiskers were cut short too (?) Is that weird? I'll get a picture up next week as my husband is out of town with the camera! Good to be back and reading all your posts! Lisa

Congrats Lisa~~ Im happy for you...
What did u name her? ok okay Molly, sorry:D
With the nipping , everytime she does it just say NO in a firm voice.Eventually she will get the idea you don't like it and she will stop it just takes consistency! How old is she? As far as the tears it is probably from teething, I would wait till she is at least 10 or 11 months and done with teething to try any products for the stains..
Can't wait for pictures!

She was born 4-12, so she is 15 weeks. She was 12 weeks when we brought her home. We had her for 4 days and my husband said, so dog owner (Molly is our first) what do you think? I said, Mmmm, not sure, what do you think? His reply? "I didn't think we were having anymore kids!" LOL

:lol2: :lol2: :lol2: You will get used to having her believe me.. Yes I asked how old she was cause of the tear thingie, she is still young so after the teething if she has any staining then you can try some things.Im sure they will go away once the teething is over!:D

Welcome back and congrats on the new baby.....Molly. Please make sure I get her exact birth date so I can put it on my calendar.
So, did you actually locate her in Europe? From where? Let us know all the details on international purchasing of a pup for future reference. If I read it wrong, still tell us where you got your new baby...we need details girl!!!
I got great help here on the staining issue. I use stainless steel bowls for food and water. I use distilled water also. Make sure to read the label on your dog food bag and check for the ingred. that can contribute to staining.
I'm sure some of the ladies can remember what threads had all the info, or just go back and read through the food and health threads.
Good luck with Molly. Be sure to get those pictures up soon.

I need to be a bit more specific about the tearing...is more like eye boogies...LOL sorry to be so graffic! I'd like to clean up in the corners and I've tried a wash cloth with warm water...I don't want to put any chemicals that close to her eyes...Another question, how to you wash a dogs head when you give them a bath? Total newbie!!

Sorry, I forgot the other stuff. We didn't bring her from Europe. I did a lot of online research and looking at breeders and local newspaper ads while in Europe, that sort of stuff and we found Molly in Missouri. She was actually our third dog! The other two were sold out from under us, but we feel very strongly that we got the dog we were supposed to have. So we don't have anymore hard feelings....
Dogs are much more socially accepted in England and Scotland, they actually have places outside of stores that you can leash your dog onto while you shop (sort of like a bike rack) and some places actually let you take your well behaved dog into the shop with you, we didn't run across any dog that wasn't well trained. It was great.

Ok I know what you mean. I use this cmb to gently comb through it and those boogers come out 5150
Also you can use Fresheyes to clean her face, a drop or two in each eye.it wont hurt her at all and its totally safe, it just cleans the eyes and keeps it from those boogers:lol2: :lol2:
you can buy it in any drug store (the human kind) or you can try these

good luck,
