Ok, everyone....this is a chance for all of us to learn about the past. Please tell us one thing you cherish about your childhood.....

(If you go and check out the latest threads under 'The Person Below Me' post, you can get a little background info on 2 certain chums from MT that had a wonderful childhood and would like to hear from all of you here)

One of my cherished childhood memories was with my Great-Uncle who lived with us. We had a double lot that had a tiny house on one side and the other side had a giant flower garden and a giant vegetable garden. In the fall when the garden was done and all the corn stalks were cut down and we saved all the leaves we racked, he would have a giant bon fire. All the neighborhood kids would come over and we'd sit around the fire and he'd tell us stories. We'd put the hot dogs on a stick and eat them right off of it. We'd sing songs and then play a game of the ghost comes out tonight. There would be at least 20 kids there and we'd be out there till 10-11 pm.

Today.....you can't burn leaves, kids stay inside and play video games. The health dept. would probably say we'd get sick from hot dogs off the stick and the neighbors would call the police and DCF for being out till 11pm running around playing tag......oh, the good old days.....I miss them....

Now, it's your turn.....

One of my cherished memories is with my paternal grandmother. Edna. The kindest and sweetest woman I have ever met. Always enjoyed going to her home and remember things like her apron with flour on it from baking her goodies. I also remember sitting on the foot of her sewing machine and rocking on it. I'm dating myself again......it was the sewing machine that had the wide foot that you had to manually rock with your feet to make the needle move. Just the little simple things that make you smile.:)
