Has anyone ever heard of giving a spoon of cream cheese for tear staining? On the breeders forum that I am on I saw where someone recommended it. They claim that the good bacteria in it kills the bacteria that causes the staining. Well I got some and started Darlii on it yesterday and will let you all know the outcome. They said it will take about a month to clear it completely. So we shall see.

Well i think so but not 100%,could it have something to do with providing calcium that she may need that the pup is depleteing:confused: would the bi**h be at all interested during labour to eat:confused: whats your experience with this Becky?

It actually depens on the dog themselves. I give Neuta Cal mixed with Calsorb to help with contractions they dont really like that much. But I also give vanilla icecream and cheese and have never had one to not want it. But the thing about it is that I only use it when they are not having labor pains to help kick them back in. And it really works. That is why you dont feed extra calcium while a mom is pregnant.
:wink5: Heheheheheeee notice how I changed the word for you Andrea to mom instead of bit*h.:wink5:

Now that you mention it i have read about ice-cream! My vet gave me something to give while in labour, it's a brown paste & also used to give to the pups within 5 hours of birth & then again a few hours later if not feeding well.
Back to the cream cheese, none of my dogs are that keen on it!

Well I have given it to Darlii the last two days and she loves it. I normally only give the icecream and sliced cheese in labor because they feel it is such a treat. LOL
Back to the pups if not nursing well. Do you know what the fading puppy remedy is?

It is homeade.
Here it is:
Beef Liver Remedy for fading puppies.
Large piece of Beef Liver-little bit of water, boil slowly for about 5 minutes until the blood comes out.
Let cool-drain the liquid and put just 4 drops into a dropper and give to puppy. At first you give it every 2 hours for 12 hours, then every 4 hours. You can do this for however long you have to until you feel the puppy is thriving.

That sounds easy, do you always buy in a piece of liver when you have a litter due then? I will have to take a note of this, thanks!
The stuff my vet gave me is called puppy stim, but thankfully i only had to give one dose.

Yes I try to keep it is the freezer that way when mom goes into labor I can thaugh (sp) it out. I have gone as far as freezing the formula but am not sure if it will work. I used this formula on Monti when I thought he was going down and the vet said it was the end and it brought him back around. I will never ever go without it. They say it is like giving the pup a blood transfusion. It is a good idea to keep the puppy stim also because I also give neutra drops when I have a puppy that seems week.

It really does make sense, my mum was ill for a while & the doc told her to eat & eat & eat plenty of liver!
We dont get nutrical over here, is that the same as puppy stim as i often thought about getting some nutrical shipped over from the states.

Sorry, back to tear stains. Someone told me a while back to try bicarbonate of soda & real lemon juice as these 2 produce a natural bleaching agent (it is not digested but applied to the hair) LOL
Fortunately my boys have no staining now & the girls is very minimal, the only thing that i did was try to eradicate colouring from the treats that i fed.

I dont know I have never heard of Puppy Stim. If you can get the Neutra Cal or Neurta Drops I highly recommend them. You can also use something such as Karo Syrup or something high in sugar like that. The reason I give it is because of the hypoglycemia.

YAY we have plenty of bees so i'm sure we have plenty of honey!
Thats the down side being part of a mainly american forum, you guys recomend lots of great stuff that is not available over here so we have to then search for something equivilant. So i'm putting a challenge to everyone who recomends a product...they have to then find a UK equivilant before posting :p :lol2:
