Thought it would be nice to see what sort of shampoo we have found to work best with our fluffbutts. Since I started the thread I tried to use the ones I was familiar with. If yours is not listed as a choice, perhaps you can post and tell us about the product. THANKS!!!:)

I voted for 4 because I use :
1) tearless baby shampoo for the head
2) Coat Handler (my fave)
3) Bless the Beasts (I like, but not nearly as much as Coat Handler, but I do like Fur Polish Pomade)
4) Other - Minksheen when I know they're going to be going outside in the grass

I use the Minksheen too but only on the Yorkie but now that I have cut Kallie's hair, I may try it on her. Do you use the minksheen on your malt too?

Hi Carol, yes I do use the Minksheen on Emma too :) It makes Miko's coat very nice and does pretty good with Emma's, but my fave is CH :)
My main reason to use it is to repel insects, as I do not put flea treatments/preventatives on them. I don't like chemicals being put on their bodies that go into their bloodstream.
Thankfully, we have had no flea/tick/insect problems, and we live in FL. I add a tiny bit of garlic in Emma's food (they sell garlic tabs for dogs also) and nutritional yeast to keep fleas away.

Shampoos are tearless puppy for the head, and alternate between Spa and Pantene...I want to try Coat Handler since I like the conditioner so much!

I don't know what the groomer uses, but if I have to give an emergency bath at home I use baby shampoo for the face and pantane for the rest. I always wanted to try Bless The Beast, heard it's good stuff. :)

You are correct the Coat Handler Maintenance shampoo is not a whitener. They have a separate one for that and is very mild and leaves the coat soft but then I always use the coat handler leave-in conditioner every bath.

I've used Biosilk conditioner and it worked ok. I just used the Biologe stuff in the container and it worked pretty well on my 7 mos old puppy.
I've been using Pnderosa products and I think I'm liking them!

Yes :) I used the Biolage on me (we're talking about the human kind, right?)
I loved it. It left my hair really nice, and I especially liked the conditioner. I tend to switch shampoos and conditioners every so often for myself and for the furbabies. I think it's good for the hair

It's great(Bless The Beast) it smells wonderful and it makes Nemo's coat so nice, like I said I always switch off I never use the same shampoo every week:D for me it just seems Nemo's coat doesn't respond to it, it's the same for my hair I always rotate, I find when I do that my hair comes out looking so nice..

I do the same thing. I never use the same thing two times in a row. I use the Clarifying one week the White on White the next week and then Pure Paws Brightening. And am having a lot of success doing it that way.

For those of you that use Coat Handler, can you tell me what you like about it? Does it smell nice? Do any of you who use it use it on a cotton coat? Do you use both the shampoo and the conditioner? Thanks!

I have both the coat handler shampoo (for white coats) and the leave-in conditoner, both are concentrated and can be diluted. I don't use the shampoo much except when I need to, but it just seems more gentle than the other brands of white brightener. The leave-in conditioner does not have an overly scented smell to it but smells pleasant but it certainly leaves the hair easy to brush out and leaves the hair soft. Kallie had the cottony coat but now that I have cut her, she only has a very silky feel to her hair. I also use it on Toby as well after I use the minksheen on him which I truly like using on him but minksheen does have a rather unusual smell to it the first day but then it goes away. But it leaves his coat soft(but then I do ouse the coat handler leave-in conditoner on him as the last step so his soft coat could be from that) and shiney. I would not recommend it for a maltese coat though...............JMO.

I use both the shampoo and conditioner on my yorkie and my maltese. It works very nicely on both of their coats. I wouldn't say Emma has a cotton coat though...It's more silky. I don't usually leave the conditioner in their hair. It has a very soft pleasant smell to it which I love :)
I can't stand strong smelling shampoos even though I do use the minksheen sometimes(particularly when I know they will be going outside playing in the grass).
What I like about coat handler products is that they leave the coats nice and shiny, no greasy feel and not dried out.
